AC Milan Turn Down Chance To Sign Chelsea And Borussia Dortmund Defenders – Here’s Why
Max Allegri wants to sign a new centre-back during the January transfer window.
AC Milan have rejected the chance to sign centre-backs from Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund, reports claim.
Milan Say No To Niklas Sule And Axel Disasi
Massimiliano Allegri is eager to strengthen the Rossoneri’s backline next month and would prefer to recruit an experienced name, ideally on loan, to boost his side’s Serie A title bid.
Unsurprisingly, the club have been offered a host of defenders, handing the hierarchy a welcome headache.
However, according to Fabrizio Romano, two big names have been rebuffed. These are, of course, Chelsea’s Axel Disasi and Dortmund’s Niklas Sule, both of whom could move on from their respective sides in January.
Milan will not be pursuing either player for tactical and financial reasons, leaving them to explore alternative targets. They are also determined not to rush any decisions as they explore a congested market.
Sule’s contract is set to run down next summer, and Dortmund are unlikely to hand him an extension. As a result, they could look to offload him during the winter window at a bargain price.
But the 30-year-old has made just five appearances across all competitions this season, playing a total of 281 minutes, and Milan have decided against holding talks.
Disasi has been similarly ostracised by Chelsea after being placed in the club’s so-called ‘bomb squad’. He is available for both a permanent or temporary move next month, and has attracted interest from Roma.
Having failed to play a game this season, his lack of match action is a blot on his copybook.
FootItalia revealed that Juventus previously monitored Disasi, but Milan are certainly not in the reckoning.

Allegri confirmed Milan will be active in the January window, and the club are fully expected to back him.
The head coach is believed to have requested an experienced and reliable defender who would provide leadership and a steady hand on the tiller. He had wanted to sign Thiago Silva, but the board were not convinced.
Several positions remain in flux, but the Rossoneri appear to be prioritising a centre-back and a new forward.
Despite Christopher Nkunku rescuing his Milan career after scoring a brace against Hellas Verona at the weekend, there remains an interest in Juventus frontman Dusan Vlahovic, who could soon be on the move.
