AC Milan welcome Bologna to the San Siro on September 14th, as Massimiliano Allegri looks for consecutive Serie A victories and you can find our full preview, prediction, possible lineups and betting tips below.

AC Milan vs Bologna Preview

The Rossoneri made a disappointing star to their Serie A campaign, as Massimiliano Allegri’s side were beaten 2-1 by Cremonese at home thanks to goals from Federico Baschirottio and Federico Bonazzoli.

Losing at home in his opening league match would not have been on Allegri’s to-do list and the Italian was quick to eradicate this mistake in Milan’s most recent fixture.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Christian Pulisic were on target to secure a 2-0 victory over Lecce at Stadio Via del Mare, in a game that saw Milan have two goals ruled out.

Putting results to one side, one of Milan’s biggest concerns this season has been the absence of Portuguese superstar, Rafael Leao, who suffered a calf injury back in mid-August which has kept him out of the side.

Rafael Leao has returned to training ahead of Milan’s clash against Bologna, but the 26-year-old is still unlikely to start due to a lack of match fitness.

Bologna will be hoping to see Leao’s name on the bench or away from the matchday squad, as Vincenzo Italiano’s side have made a mixed start to their Serie A campaign so far.

Supporters were left underwhelmed following Bologna’s opening day defeat to Roma, but Italiano’s men managed to put the loss behind them and picked up a 1-0 victory over Como.

Competing in Serie A this season will not be an easy feat after a host of star players left the club, with Sam Beukema joining Napoli and Dan Ndoye signing for Nottingham Forest.

Beating Milan would be a sign of intent for this season, however, Bologna have only won two of their last 10 meetings against Bologna – but both came last season.

AC Milan vs Bologna Possible Lineups

AC Milan: Maignan; Tomori, De Winter, Pavlovic; Saelemaekers, Loftus-Cheek, Modric, Fofana, Estupinan; Pulisic, Gimenez

Bologna: Skorupski; Zortea, Vitik, Heggem, Miranda; Freuler, Ferguson; Orsolini, Odgaard, Cambiaghi; Castro

AC Milan vs Bologna Prediction

The 2024/25 season saw Bologna dominate the encounters between themselves and Milan, beating the Rossoneri at home and the again in the Coppa Italia Final.

However, their one defeat to Milan came in this exact fixture last season at the San Siro, as Santiago Gimenez scored a brace and Christian Pulisic was on target.

Taking last season’s result into consideration, we expect the Rossoneri to utilize their home advantage once again and earn a narrow victory in Milan.

Prediction: AC Milan 2-1 Bologna

AC Milan vs Bologna Betting Tips

Christian Pulisic to score at any time: +200

Like we have just mentioned, Christian Pulisic scored in this fixture last season and the USMNT has contributed to four goals in five appearances against Bologna across all competitions (2G + 2A).

Currently, Pulisic is in contract negotiations with Milan, after an impressive spell with the Rossoneri so far, making 103 appearances and contributing with 34G & 23A.

The American has already scored two goals in all competitions this season and we expect Pulisic to continue his strong record against Bologna with a goal on September 14th.
