Will Ademola Lookman Leave Atalanta?
The Nigerian international has caught the attention of several clubs across Europe this summer and reports have revealed that Napoli are leading the charge to land Lookman’s signature.
Since joining Atalanta in August 2022, the former Leicester City star has made 118 appearances and contributed to 77 goals in the process (52G + 25A).
His most memorable moment came in the 2024 Europa League final, as Lookman became the first player in history to score a hat-trick and guided his side to European glory against an unbeaten Bayer Leverkusen.
The 2024/25 season was another strong year for the 27-year-old, making 40 appearances across all competitions and averaging a goal every other game – scoring 20.
Lookman’s deal in Bergamo still has another two-years remaining, meaning any potential suitor will have to pay a full transfer fee and not look for a free deal.
Atalanta are going through a period of transition following recent events, as Gian Piero Gasperini left the club to become the new manager at another Serie A side, Roma.
Gasperini is already making some interesting moves in Rome, with the veteran manager looking to bring in a host of star names – opening negotiations for Premier League star, Matt O’Riley.
As for Atalanta, Ivan Juric has been handed the reins in Bergamo and will have a huge task on his hands to replicate the success Gasperini found during his time in the city.
At this current moment in time there has been no real desire to sell Lookman this summer, but Atalanta are reportedly willing to listen to offers between $55-65 million.
Are Napoli Interested In Ademola Lookman?
As previously mentioned, Napoli are leading the way to land the former Premier League player, but Antonio Conte’s side are said to be slightly disturbed by Atalanta’s asking price.
Funding such a deal would require a plethora of departures this summer, with a large part of the incoming being earned through the sale of another Nigerian star, Victor Osimhen.
The prolific goalscorer has been linked with multiple moves already, turning down an offer from Al Hilal and according to Serie A betting sites, Galatasaray are the favorites to land the striker.
Osimhen enjoyed a strong season with the Turkish side during the 2024/25 campaign, contributing to 45 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions and winning the league and cup double.
Napoli’s interest in Lookman will be determined by the actions taken over Osimhen, as Atalanta’s asking price is unlikely to be lowered unless their star player pushes for a move.
