Udinese Will Turn To Callum Wilson If Lorenzo Lucca Quits The Bluenergy Stadium

Start

According to the latest Callum Wilson transfer news, Udinese have shortlisted the forward as a potential replacement for Lorenzo Lucca.

Wilson has spent the last five years with English Premier League giants Newcastle United. During his time at St James’ Park, the former Three Lions international scored 49 goals in 130 appearances across all competitions.

At the time of writing, Wilson is a free agent and is weighing up his options. Which includes penning a new deal with the Magpies. Interest in the forward is already high with a number of top-flight teams across the continent considering making a move if he does leave Tyneside.

Callum Wilson Transfer News

Udinese have shortlisted Callum Wilson as head coach Kosta Runjaic aims to increase his attacking options for next season. However, aged 33, Wilson is not the typical Bianconeri signing.

Under the stewardship of the Pozzo family, the Serie A typically signs young up-and-coming players. In the not so distant future, that could all change.

That is because US firm Guggenheim Partners are close to completing a takeover at the Bluenergy Stadium. Once and if that does happen, players in their older years such as Wilson will be considered on short-term deals.

Although the player himself hasn’t spoken about his immediate future, FootItalia sources indicate he would consider a switch to Italy if his demands are met.

A number of English Premier League sides are also interested in free agent Wilson. Leeds, Everton and West Ham have all been linked in recent weeks.

Is Lorenzo Lucca Set For Napoli?

In June, FootItalia reported that Napoli are edging closer to a deal for Lorenzo Lucca. The champions are still very much interested in the 6 ft 7 in forward.

However, much will depend on whether the Azzurri end their pursuit for Darwin Nunez. The Uruguayan was Antonio Conte’s top choice to come in to partner Romelu Lukaku at the Maradona Stadium.

Negotiations have somewhat stalled in recent days owing to Liverpool’s asking price for Nunez. Therefore, the potential Lucca deal was put on ice but is on the verge of recommencing.

The Italy international has been linked with a number of clubs this summer. It looks a given that he’ll leave the Bluenergy Stadium and Naples is his most likely destination.

Could Callum Wilson Stay At Newcastle?

Interestingly, Callum Wilson could yet stay at Newcastle and disappoint his army of admirers. On Monday, Wilson was removed from Newcastle’s official website implying that he will definitely leave.

However, he was later re-added which now suggests he will pen new terms at St James’ Park. The Magpies have made no official statement but it could happen in the next 24-48 hours.

Wilson filling the void that is likely to be left by Lorenzo Lucca is a long shot. Especially as the English forward’s future is really unclear.

Nonetheless, Udinese will be keeping a close eye on proceedings. US bettors can keep track of all the latest transfer markets via the best offshore sportsbooks.
