Joel Ordonez has been regarded as one of the brightest prospects in European soccer and a host of Serie A sides are preparing a move for the Club Brugge star.

How Good Is Joel Ordonez?

Joel Ordonez has become a household name in the world of Belgian soccer since making his Club Brugge debut in August 2022, going on to make 92 appearances for Jupiler Pro League side.

During his time with the Belgian side Ordonez has become one of the brightest prospects in Europe, whilst picking up a Jupiler Pro League title, Belgian Cup and Belgian Supercup.

At just 21-years-old, Ordonez is still growing as a player, but the Ecuadorian international has already caught the attention of the elite sides across Europe.

His performances for Belgium have also pushed Ordonez into the starting lineup for Ecuador, picking up 13 caps and starting in 10 consecutive matches – keeping seven clean sheets along the way.

Ecuador are one of the six South American nations that have already qualified for the 2026 World Cup and Ordonez is expected to be one of the first names on the team sheet.

When looking into Joel Ordonez as a player, it’s hard to ignore his physical attributes, as the 21-year-old stands at 6ft 2in and is one of the fastest defenders in Europe.

The youngster’s technical capabilities will also be a consideration for any potential suitors, as Ordonez boasts a passing accuracy of 92.4% per 90 in the Jupiler Pro League this season.

Ordonez also wins 64.7% of his aerial battles per 90 and has also popped up with a goal for Club Brugge this season, taking his overall tally up to two since moving to Belgium.

The defender’s deal with Club Brugge does not expire until June 2029, meaning the reported interest from Serie A would require a substantial bid.

Inter Milan

The Nerazzurri were linked with Ordonez during the summer transfer window, but the Serie A side decided to bring in Manuel Akanji on loan from Manchester City.

Ordonez was also linked with a move to Marseille, as the French giants reportedly approached Brugge with a €30 million bid which was swiftly rejected.

Inter are on the hunt for a new central defender once again this summer as Yann Bisseck appears to be on his way out of the club after an underwhelming spell in Italy.

Cristian Chivu’s side currently sit second in Serie A and are on a strong run of form after a difficult opening to the season, while also winning each of their Champions League matches without conceding.

Negotiations over a move for Ordonez could begin during the January window, but the Serie A giants will be aware that any bid will need to be around €40/45 million.

Juventus 

The Bianconeri are in desperate need of a new central defender and Juventus have formed a shortlist following Gleison Bremer’s recent knee surgery.

Bremer is set to miss the remainder of 2025 and has struggled with repeated injury concerns, meaning Igor Tudor could be looking for a new defender in January.

Juventus are currently dealing with a disappointing run of form, failing to win in six consecutive matches across all competitions and losing 2-0 to Como in their latest league encounter.

Bringing in Ordonez would not only be an instant improvement to the Bianconeri’s back-line, but would also be a signing for the future as the 21-year-old still has years until his prime.

Fikayo Tomori has also dealt with some injury concerns and Milan are reportedly concerned over their lack of depth, especially as Allegri uses a three-back formation.
