Revealed: The Serie A referees confirmed to take charge of 10 midweek games

The Serie A returns on October 28th-30th, as Napoli look to extend their lead at the top of the table – but which referees will oversee the matches on Matchday 9?

Who Are The Confirmed Referees For Serie A Matchday 9?

Tuesday 28th October

Lecce vs Napoli (Giuseppe Collu)

The confirmed head official for Napoli’s trip to Lecce has now been confirmed and the responsibility has fallen onto the shoulders of Giuseppe Collu.

The 35-year-old has officiated five Serie A matches so far, with his most recent outing coming in a 0-0 stalemate between Lazio and Atalanta on October 19th.

Despite awarding 24 yellow cards this season and two penalties in his last two appearances as an official, Collu is yet to hand out a red card (to a player) – but was involved in some major controversy during Bologna’s 2-1 win over Genoa on Matchday four.

The Italian awarded Bologna a penalty kick for a dubious hand-ball in the 90th minute, which saw the hosts pick up a late victory and led to Genoa manager, Patrick Vieiria ,being dismissed and putting the Frenchman high on the list for next Serie A manager to be sacked.

Collu should be free of any major controversy in this upcoming Serie A clash, as Napoli have picked up the least yellow cards in the league this season (9) and are the only side to have under 10 .

On the other hand, Eusebio Di Francesco’s side have received 16 yellow cards so far, but both Lecce and Napoli have managed to avoid a red card.

Atalanta vs AC Milan (Daniele Doveri)

Atalanta vs AC Milan is always one of the biggest matches in a Serie A season, meaning Daniele Doveri will be under huge pressure when officiating the clash on October 28th.

The Italian referee has overseen three Serie A matches this season and Doverti has already officiated the Rossoneri, overseeing Milan’s 3-0 win over Udinese on September 20th.

The 47-year-old handed out two yellow cards during the match, but neither of these were awarded to a Milan player and Doveri’s overall tally sits at 13 – only dishing out five bookings in his last two appearances.

It has been a relatively simple start for the Italian match official, as Doveri is yet to award a single red card or penalty – while avoiding any poor decisions that could negatively impact a match.

Atalanta and AC Milan have been identical in terms of discipline this season, with both sides picking up 11 yellow cards and a singular red card so far.

Wednesday 29th October

Como vs Hellas Verona (Matteo Marcenaro)

Como can extend their unbeaten run in Serie A to seven as Cesc Fabregas’ side host Hellas Verona and Matteo Marcenaro will be the lead official on October 29th.

The 32-year-old has overseen three Serie A matches in the 2025/26 season so far, with his most recent allocation coming on October 18th during Torino’s 1-0 victory over Napoli.

Marcenaro has dished out 11 yellow cards in Italy’s top-flight and his only red card of the season came on Matchday 1, sending Andrea Cambiaso off during Juventus’ 2-0 win over Parma.

The Italian official may have his hands full on Wednesday evening, as Como rank second for most yellow cards this season (21), whilst also picking up two red cards.

Juventus vs Udinese (Marco Di Bello)

Juventus will enter their first match without Igor Tudor, as the Croatian was dismissed due to a run of poor results and the Bianconeri are now looking for a new manager.

Marco Di Bello will take charge of Juve’s upcoming clash against Udinese on October 29th and the Italian official has only officiated one Serie A clash this season – taking charge of Como’s 2-1 win over Cremonese on September 27th.

During his maiden Serie A appearance of the season, Di Bello handed out seven yellow cards and sent off Como star, Jesus Rodriguez, for violent conduct.

The Bianconeri have received 15 yellow cards and one red card this season, while Udinese have accumulated 18 yellows – avoiding any dismissals so far.

Roma vs Parma (Valerio Crezzini)

Roma will be looking to maintain their place in the Serie A table on October 29th, as the Giallorossi welcome Parma to Stadio Olimpico and Valerio Crezzini is the man in charge.

The 32-year-old has overseen three Serie A matches this season, only dishing out seven yellow cards and one penalty kick, which came during Napoli’s 3-2 win over Pisa.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s side have only received 14 yellow cards this season, while Parma have picked up 12 and Roma are one of the few teams to avoid a red card.

Genoa vs Cremonese (Rosario Abisso)

Rosario Abisso will take charge of just his third Serie A match of the season on October 29th, as the Italian has been confirmed as the head official for Genoa vs Cremonese.

During his two appearances in Italy’s first divison so far, the 39-year-old has awarded five yellow cards and one red card, with the major caution coming in Abisso’s latest outing.

The Italian official sent off Pisa star, Idrissa Toure, for a professional foul during their 4-0 defeat to Bologna on October 5th and this was widely considered to be the correct decision.

Bologna vs Torino (Giovanni Ayrlodi)

Next on the list of confirmed referees we have Giovanni Ayrlodi, who takes charge of his fifth Serie A match on October 29th – as Bologna play host to Torino.

The 34-year-old has handed out 18-yellow cards in his four refereeing appearances so far, with two of these being awarded to Sassuolo midfielder, Ismaël Koné during a 2-0 defeat to Napoli.

This is Ayrlodi’s only dismissal of the season and the Italian has managed to avoid any real controversy, with his latest outing coming in Como’s 2-0 win over Juventus.

Inter Milan vs Fiorentina (Simone Sozza)

Inter Milan suffered a heart-breaking defeat to title rivals Napoli in their latest league fixture, just days after the Nerazzurri were linked with Como star, Nico Paz.

Cristian Chivu’s men will be looking to bounce back against a winless Fiorentina side and Simone Sozza is the referee for this major Serie A clash.

Sozza has been one of the most prolific officials in Serie A this season, handing out 16-yellow cards in four appearances, while also sending off two players during Lazio and Roma’s derby day clash on September 21st.

In fact, each of Sozza’s last three outings have seen at least one dismissal and most recently, the 38-year-old awarded a red card and penalty during Genoa and Parma’s 0-0 stalemate.

Thursday 30th October

Cagliari vs Sassuolo (Luca Pairetto)

Cagliari and Sasuolo will go head-to-head in the penultimate clash of MD9 and this Serie A encounter will be overseen by Luca Pairetto who will take charge of his first match in Italy’s top flight this season.

The Italian has spent the start of this season in Serie B, taking charge of four matches and awarding a whopping 22 yellow cards, alongside two red cards.

Not only has the 41-year-old dished out a huge amount of bookings, Pairetto has also awarded four penalties in Serie B this season – with two of these spot-kicks coming in Modena’s 3-1 win over Mantova on September 20th.

Pisa vs Lazio (Davide Massa)

Matchday 9 in Serie A will be wrapped up by Pisa vs Lazio and Davide Massa has been confirmed as the head official – with both sides looking to climb up the league table.

Massa has overseen three Serie A matches this season, dishing out 15 yellow cards and managing to avoid any dismissals or penalties – despite taking charge of Roma’s feisty clash against Inter Milan during MD7.

The Italian official has also been involved in some huge matches outside of Italy this season, as Massa officiated Arsenal’s 4-0 win over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League – awarding just three yellow cards.
