Nottingham Forest have been told they’ve paid too much for Dan Ndoye, after Bologna’s Coppa Italia final hero completed his move to the Premier League side.
Ndoye scored the only goal of the game as Vincenzo Italiano’s side beat Milan 1-0 in the 2024-25 finale. The Swiss international netted after 53 minutes to give the Rossoblù their first major honor in over 50 years.
After cementing himself into club folklore, interest in Ndoye spiked this summer. Bologna entertained a number of inquiries but ultimately, Forest won the race for his signature.
That has sparked backlash from former Napoli defender Gennaro Scarlato. The champions were also pushing hard to sign Ndoye but the winger favored the Tricky Trees better financial package.

Dan Ndoye Transfer Fee
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Dan Ndoye transfer fee is an initial payment of €40million upfront. A further €5m will potentially be paid in add-ons.
There is also a 10% sell-on clause inserted into the deal. Meaning Bologna can possibly cash in once again when Ndoye leaves the City Ground.
That means Ndoye could possibly become Nottingham Forest’s record signing. The honor currently belongs to Elliot Anderson who cost €41.2m last summer.
Can Dan Ndoye Replace Anthony Elanga?
Bologna, who are +600 with offshore sportsbooks to finish in the top four this season, have undoubtedly lost one of their star players.
Having already lost defender Sam Beukema to Napoli, head coach Vincenzo Italiano is tasked with filling the void left by the two players.
However, Nottingham Forest supporters will be hoping Ndoye can replace Anthony Elanga. The Sweden star joined Newcastle earlier this summer after a glowing 2024-25 campaign.
Ndoye has similar attributes to Elanga and also has a keen eye for goal. Last year, the Swiss international scored nine times and provided six assists in 41 appearances across all competitions.
Both players are excellent dribblers, explosive in 1v1 situations and have an abundance of pace. Forest fans will be quietly confident Ndoye can adapt to the rigors of the English game and make a like-for-like replacement.
What Did Ex-Napoli Pro Say About Dan Ndoye?
Gennaro Scarlato didn’t hold back when he explained that he believed Nottingham Forest had paid over the odds for Dan Ndoye. In fact, the former Napoli defender appeared bitter his old side missed out on the winger.
“I saw Ndoye play and, honestly, he didn’t strike me as such a phenomenon. He’s an excellent player, with significant room for growth, but the figures are extremely high,” Scarlato explained.
“And then, if someone prefers Nottingham Forest to Napoli, it means something’s wrong. It was probably also a question of figures, because at €40 million plus bonuses, plus a 10% interest on future resale, I think Bologna got the deal of the century.
“Napoli did well to withdraw, because those figures don’t match the player’s current value.”
