Fabio Paratici will restore calm at Fiorentina, says ex-Juventus goalkeeper

Fabio Paratici would bring “serenity” and “concrete results” to Fiorentina, according to former Juventus goalkeeper Rubinho.

Over the past few days, Paratici has been heavily linked with a move to Fiorentina as their sporting director.
The Viola are reportedly working on an agreement for the Tottenham Hotspur director to lead the club’s football department.
And Rubinho, who was at Juventus as the same time as Paratici, believes the Italian can have a calming effect on Fiorentina.
“For me, he’s a role model, a successful director in Italy,” Rubinho told Radio Firenzeviola.
“He did great things with (Beppe) Marotta, and their history speaks for itself.
“He’s an intelligent director, and his arrival will bring serenity and concrete results for the future.”
Fiorentina’s pursuit of Paratici comes after months of upheaval which has resulted in them sitting bottom of Serie A.
Sporting director Daniele Prade left by mutual consent on 1 November, a move the club framed as a joint decision after mounting pressure.
Coach Stefano Pioli was dismissed soon after, following a winless league run that left Fiorentina needing a clear change of direction.
Paolo Vanoli was then appointed on a short-term contract, tasked with stabilising results and restoring confidence before the winter window.
Rubinho describes what Paratici is like behind the scenes
Rubinho said Paratici was a constant presence at Juventus. He described him as an executive who “lives the dressing room” and stays close to players daily.
He added that Paratici and Pavel Nedved were approachable, while Marotta managed the wider structure, giving the squad direct access to decision-makers.
Rubinho also said Paratici asked questions “off the pitch” to understand how players were coping privately, presenting him as hands-on and attentive.
“I have a fantastic relationship with him, because he was always with us,” Rubinho continued.
“Even when we were training, or receiving medical treatment.
“He’s someone who really lives in the dressing room, he’s close to the team.
“He and Nedved were always with us and you could talk to them about anything, while Marotta was in charge.
“He’s someone who asks questions even off the pitch to see how you feel in your private life.”
Paratici spent 11 years as Juve’s sporting director, presiding over one of the most successful periods in the club’s history.
However, he found himself embroiled in controversy. He received a 30-month ban linked to alleged false accounting at Juve, later recognised internationally.
Paratici resigned from Tottenham in 2023, then returned to official duties in October after the suspension ended, joining a reshaped Spurs structure.
Now, Fiorentina’s move depends on formalities with Tottenham. Fabrizio Romano claimed “formal steps” are still required to complete an appointment.
