Fiorentina are reportedly interested in signing former Manchester United defender, Sergio Reguilon, as the Spaniard is still available on the free agent market.

Why Has Sergio Reguilon Not Joined A Club?

The Spanish defender parted ways with Tottenham Hotspur in July of this year after his deal in north London came to an end and is now looking for a new place to call home.

Reguilon joined the Lilywhites in September 2020 after making his way through the ranks at Real Madrid and enjoying multiple loans with various Spanish sides.

During his time in England, the 28-year-old played for a trio of Premier League sides, joining Manchester United and Brentford on loan after falling out-of-favor at Spurs.

Overall, Reguilon has made 81 Premier League appearances, but failed to cement a place in any of the three teams and accumulated just 316 minutes for Tottenham last season.

This lack of playing time meant that both parties rejected the chance to agree an extended deal and the former Manchester United star has been linked with multiple clubs around Europe.

The official summer transfer window in Italy came to an end on September 1st, as AC Milan topped the table for the biggest spenders in Serie A and the league saw a host of fresh faces enter the fray.

Kevin De Bruyne, Christopher Nkunku, Jonathan David and Rasmus Hojlund are just a few of the star names that made their way to Italy’s top-flight before the transfer deadline.

Although the period for new signings has came to an end, clubs can still bring in players that are currently available as a free agent and this could be the case for Sergio Reguilon.

The Spaniard has reportedly attracted interest from multiple teams around Europe and Fiorentina are the most recent side to put their name in the hat.

Are Fiorentina Interested In Sergio Reguilon?

Fiorentina managed to achieve their main goal for the summer transfer window, keeping hold of last season’s leading talisman, Moise Kean, despite rumors of a move elsewhere.

La Viola also brought in a huge list of players, signing: Roberto Piccoli, Simon Sohm, Nicolò Fagioli, Albert Gudmundsson, Jacopo Fazzini, Robin Gosens, Tariq Lamptey, Hans Nicolussi Caviglia, Eman Kospo, Edin Džeko, Luca Lezzerini and Mattia Viti.

Stefano Pioli’s side have made a steady start to their 2025/26 campaign, beating Polissya across two-legs to qualify for the Europa Conference League and drawing both of their Serie A matches so far.

The Serie A side are now turning their attention to Sergio Reguilon, however, there have been no official talks between the club and player over a move in the coming days.

Fiorentina are now the only side that are interested in a former Manchester United, as Christian Eriksen has been linked with a move to AS Roma.

The Danish international parted ways with the Red Devils after three-years in Manchester and may look for one last push in Europe before bringing his career to an end.
