A frantic deadline day saw plenty of comings and goings with a number of key deals completed. All of Italy’s big guns were active on September 1 as they sought to improve their roster.
The likes of Napoli, Milan, Inter, Roma, Atalanta, Como, and Juventus all splashed the cash over the last ten weeks. Even the three promoted teams spent a combined €45million between them.
Notable Deadline Day Serie A Transfers
As like all of Europe’s other major leagues, the Serie A transfers were flowing on deadline day. Napoli secured the signings of Rasmus Hojlund and Eljif Elmas.
Inter completed a loan deal for Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji. Edon Zhegrova and Lois Openda joined Juventus whereas Milan welcomed Adrien Rabiot to the San Siro.
Cremonese were one of the most active teams on deadline day and secured one of the most surprising signings in Jamie Vardy. The legendary forward moves to the Stadio Giovanni Zini on a one year deal.
In terms of outgoings, the likes of Alex Jimenez, USMNT star Yunus Musah, Alexis Sanchez and Nico Gonzalez all moved on to new teams. Although not Serie A-related, Gigi Donnarumma moved from PSG to Man City.

In terms of the Serie A side who spent the most this summer, Milan came out on top at €159m. The Rossoneri are also responsible for the most expensive signings in Christopher Nkunku (€37m) and Ardon Jashari (€36m).
Juventus takes the runner-up spot on €137m. The €32m capture of Francisco Conceicao from Porto was the Old Lady’s most costly.
Taking the final podium spot is Atalanta. Ivan Juric’s men managed to keep Ademola Lookman and splash out €126m on nine new players.
Other clubs who cleared the €100m barrier include Napoli (€115m) and Como (€107m). Fiorentina and Inter weren’t far off having spent €91m and €89m respectively.
