Inter’s Teenage Wonderkid Primed To Start Against Urawa Reds

Start

The latest Francesco Pio Esposito injury update has revealed that Inter’s teenage sensation is fit to start against Urawa Reds on Saturday.

Pio Esposito has enjoyed a stellar campaign on loan at Serie B side Spezia. His performances at the Stadio Alberto Picco in 2024-25 have seen him fast-tracked to the Nerazzurri’s Club World Cup roster.

New head coach Cristian Chivu will likely use the 6ft 3in striker from the off against the Japanese side in Seattle. The Romanian manager oversaw a 1-1 draw against Monterrey on MD1 of FIFA’s newly revamped tournament.

Francesco Pio Esposito Injury Update

A Marcus Thuram injury has perhaps come as a blessing in disguise for Francesco Pio Esposito. The latter would have potentially earned his full debut against Monterrey but was suffering with his own knee problem.

With Thuram ruled out, head coach Cristian Chivu is certain to unleash Pio Esposito from the start against the Urawa Reds. A decision that will please the Inter faithful.

Gazzetta dello Sport has already reported that Pio Esposito will definitely make the starting XI. Thus making his full senior Nerazzurri debut in the process.

Interestingly, Pio Esposito’s brother – Sebastiano – started against the Mexicans on MD1. Now, it will be the turn of the younger sibling to showcase his skills.

Francesco Pio Esposito 2024-25 Stats

Looking at Francesco Pio Esposito’s 2024-25 stats, its easy to see why he was included in Inter’s roster for the Club World Cup.

Last season, Pio Esposito spent the entire campaign on loan at Spezia in Serie B. The 19-year-old wonderkid scored 17 league goals and 19 overall for the Aquilotti.

He also scored for the Italy Under 21s in the 2-2 draw against Ukraine in November. His efforts certainly didn’t go unnoticed and Pio Esposito went on to win the Serie B Golden Boot.

Francesco Pio Esposito Transfer Value

According to TransferMarkt, Francesco Pio Esposito is currently valued at €25million. Which is a fair reflection of a 19-year-old wonderkid who has five years to run on his current Inter deal.

Ahead of Saturday’s showdown with the Urawa Reds, the best betting apps have Pio Esposito as one of the favorites to open the scoring in Seattle.

The Italy U21 star is tipped for a bright soccer future and has already been linked with some of Europe’s finest clubs. Even another loan move has been mooted.

However, should Pio Esposito flourish in the US this summer, expect much more action with the Nerazzurri under Cristian Chivu in 2025-26.
