Three Ademola Lookman Alternatives For Inter Milan To Consider

With the latest Inter Milan transfer news revealing no further progress in their pursuit of Ademola Lookman, who else should the Nerazzurri consider?

The Champions League runners-up have drafted in just four players so far this summer. Naturally, Lookman is the main target but current employers Atalanta are refusing to budge on their asking price.

Newly-appointed head coach Cristian Chivu will already be casting an eye over cheaper alternatives. Chivu’s side has been linked with a number of attacking players so we’ve identified three stars who could be signed instead.

Inter Milan Transfer News – Signings So Far

Although incomings have been relatively scarce this summer, Inter Milan are still +300 with offshore sportsbooks to win the Scudetto this season.

Ange-Yoan Bonny is the Nerazzurri’s most exciting addition so far. The French forward cost €23million from Parma and played under Cristian Chivu last year.

Brazilian winger Luis Henrique moved to the San Siro in June for a reported fee of €23m. He penned a five-year deal and previously represented Marseille.

Nicola Zalewski made his loan move from Roma permanent for €6.3m. The Polish international spent the second half of last season at the San Siro and featured 17 times in all competitions.

The fourth and so far final addition is Croatian starlet Petar Sucic. The 21-year-old midfielder joined from Dinamo Zagreb and played in two Club World Cup games in June.

Ademola Lookman Transfer Saga

Once Ademola Lookman handed in a transfer request to quit Atalanta, the saga surrounding his potential move to Inter Milan has certainly intensified.

Lookman said he declared publicly to leave the Gewiss after Inter had a €45m bid rejected. The Super Eagles forward also claimed he was promised a move if a substantial offer was received.

The Nerazzurri’s offer was fair from Lookman’s persepctive. However the Dea’s CEO hit back and said that the gentleman’s agreement that is in place only applies to clubs outside Italy.

Therefore, the Bergamo club had essentially done nothing wrong by turning down the bid. Talks between the two sides have reportedly come to a complete standstill.

Nonetheless, Lookman – who is currently in London – has instructed his agent to resume negotiations. If that hits a dead end, Cristian Chivu must look at alternative options.

Who Should Inter Milan Sign Instead Of Ademola Lookman?

There are plenty of other attacking options for Inter Milan to consider. One of the most obvious choices is Man United and England winger Jadon Sancho.

The 25-year-old failed to impress at Old Trafford and during loan spells at Chelsea and Dortmund. Sancho would reportedly be available for around €20m. Which is considerably cheaper than Ademola Lookman.

Elsewhere, Maghnes Akliouche has been strongly linked after impressing during Monaco’s friendly clash against the Nerazzurri last week.

Akliouche scored the opener after two minutes at the Stade Louis II. The French attacking midfielder’s glowing performance really caught the eye of Cristian Chivu.

The only major stumbling block with pursuing Akliouche is his €70m price tag. That has been swiftly put in place to deter potential suitors but Inter would likely be able to negotiate a smaller price if it came to it.

Another alternative to consider would be Azzurri international Federico Chiesa. The 27-year-old forward has struggled in his maiden campaign at Liverpool and is likely to leave.

However, the Merseysiders would want new additions first after losing Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz. If that can be solved, a move back to Serie A is on the cards.

Chiesa scored 66 times for Fiorentina and Juventus and also won the Coppa Italia (2) and the Supercoppa Italiana.
