Fiorentina Track Jeremie Boga As Paolo Vanoli Seeks Attacking Reinforcements

I Viola has only scored 11 times this season and are yet to win in Serie A.

Fiorentina are plotting a January bid for wantaway Nice attacking midfielder and Ivory Coast international Jeremie Boga.

The 28-year-old is on course to leave the Ligue 1 side after an unsavory incident with the club’s fans. During the 3-1 defeat to FC Lorient in November, Boga and teammate Terem Moffi were subjected to physical abuse.

As a result, Boga has been granted extended sick leave. He missed the most recent defeat to SCO Angers and will not be available for selection in the Europa League against Braga on December 11.

Jeremie Boga Transfer News

With Fiorentina winless in Serie A this season, the club’s new sporting director Roberto Goretti is desperately seeking an upturn in fortunes.

That feeling is also shared by recently-appointed head coach Paolo Vanoli. The pair knows I Viola must dip into the transfer market in January to quash their relegation fears.

And that is where Jeremie Boga comes in. The attacking midfielder – who can also play as a winger – is high on the wishlist in Florence.

Owing to the personal issues Boga is currently enduring, current employers Nice are happy to let him go. In fact, reports suggest he has already been offered to a trio of clubs in Italy’s elite.

It has not been disclosed whether I Gigliati is one of the teams. However, Goretti and Vanoli are certainly interested in bringing Boga to the Artemio Franchi. Especially as he is not in line to go to AFCON.

Jeremie Boga Has Serie A Experience

Not only are Fiorentina desperate to climb out of the bottom three, their lack of attacking threats has seriously hindered their 2025-26 campaign so far.

Summer signing Edin Dzeko – who blasted I Viola fans against AEK Athens – has struggled in front of goal. So has last season’s top scorer Moise Kean.

However, Jeremie Boga has plenty of experience playing in Serie A. The Ivorian has represented Sassuolo and Atalanta throughout his career and was often among the goals.

Such history of performing in Italy’s elite can act as a springboard to get the Tuscans out of the mess they currently find themselves in.

Boga has made 136 appearances in Serie A scoring 20 goals and providing 14 assists. His finest individual season to date came in 2019-20 where he netted 11 times for I Neroverdi and chipped in with three assists.

Who Else Will Fiorentina Target In January?

Speculation around Moise Kean’s Fiorentina future is certainly unsettling for I Viola. Nonetheless, his poor form could still see him leave the Artemio Franchi next month.

The Azzurri forward will command a sizable transfer fee which in turn, could help replinish Paolo Vanoli’s entire roster.

It’s perhaps not the ideal situation to be in but Vanoli and Roberto Goretti must prepare to capitalize. If such a sale comes to fruition.

A healthy cash injection would mean the 2023 Conference League runners-up could not only acquire Jeremie Boga, but the likes of Tanner Tessman, Daniel Maldini and Arthur, too.
