The latest Jonathan Rowe transfer news has revealed that Roma have turned their attention to the England Under 21 star.
Head coach Gian Piero Gasperini has already welcomed Evan Ferguson, Wesley, Neil El Aynaoui, Radoslaw Zelezny, Devis Vasquez and Daniele Ghilardi to the Stadio Olimpico this summer.
However, the former Atalanta boss is still keen to add more attack-minded players to his roster. Leon Bailey is close to completing his move from Aston Villa but Gasperini wants to sign Rowe as well.
Jonathan Rowe Transfer News
After Jadon Sancho snubbed a transfer to Roma, the Giallorossi has quickly identified Jonathan Rowe as an alternative. The 22-year-old currently plies his trade for Marseille.
However, his time with the French side could be coming to a premature end. Rowe was reportedly involved in a bust-up with Adrien Rabiot after their Ligue 1 opener on August 14.
Rowe only joined Roberto De Zerbi’s on a permanent deal this summer. He spent the entirety of last season on loan at the Orange Velodrome after moving from English side Norwich.
Now, it appears that a move will suit both player and club. Reports suggest Rowe would consider a move to Roma. However, Serie A rivals Bologna are also keen.
Jonathan Rowe Transfer Fee
According to TransferMarkt, Jonathan Rowe is currently valued at €12million. The England Under 21 star – who scored the winning goal in the final of the 2025 European Championship this summer – has four years to run on his current deal.
Therefore, it is expected that a Roma bid in the region of €20m would likely be accepted by Marseille. The Ligue 1 side paid €15m to make his loan move from Norwich permanent earlier this window.
Head coach Roberto De Zerbi would be willing to listen to offers for Rowe but only if a small profit can be generated. The Giallorossi would be happy to pay the required price and so to would Bologna.
Vincenzo Italiano’s side has cash to splash after selling the likes of Sam Beukema and Dan Ndoye last month. Rowe could potentially fill the void left by the latter.
Jonathan Rowe Style Of Play
If Roma were to beat Bologna to Jonathan Rowe’s signature, what sort of player would they be getting? In many ways, Rowe has similar attributes to Jadon Sancho.
The former Norwich star is a pacey left winger who is predominantly right-footed. Therefore, Rowe can often evade defenders before cutting inside and either shooting or providing an opportunity for a team-mate.
Rowe is renowned for his excellent dribbling, close ball control and keen eye for goal. His speed often causes problems for the opposition and he can score a variety of different goals.
Although favoring the left wing, Rowe is versatile and can play centrally as and when required. His work rate and defensive work is also evident and he has bags of potential to go on and become one of Europe’s finest players.
