Juventus Injury Crisis Grows As Colombian Star Set For Lengthy Spell On Sidelines After Champions League Stalemate

Juventus have been hit with some major injury news as Juan Cabal was forced off during the Bianconeri’s Champions League clash against Villarreal.

The Colombian picked up his first start for Juventus in just under 11-months on October 1st, after recovering from an ACL injury he suffered on international duty in November 2024.

However, Cabal’s time on the pitch was cut short after 15 minutes as the 24-year-old appeared to be struggling and holding a knock in his right leg.

This injury could not have come at a worse time for Cabal, after returning to the squad this season and starring in Juventus’ 1-1 stalemate with Atalanta – coming off the bench to score the equaliser.

An exact diagnosis is yet to be confirmed but Cabal left the pitch in tears and immediate reports have suggested that the former Hellas Verona star suffered a knock on his right leg flexor.

The 24-year-old will undergo a series of tests to determine the severity of the injury, but suffering an injury to this specific muscle is said to be common for players that have been out for an extended period of time.

Although Cabal was only on the pitch for 15 minutes, the Colombian managed to pick up a yellow card after just five minutes, after making a poor challenge.

Overall it was a disappointing night for the Serie A side, as the Bianconeri came from behind to lead 2-1 before suffering a last-minute strike to leave Spain with a point.

Federico Gatti and Francisco Conceicao found the back of the net for Tudor’s men, with the latter scoring in both of his last two appearances across all competitions.

The Juventus manager brought Dusan Vlahovic on after 86 minutes, which has left many questioning the Serbian’s future after recent links with a move to Bayern Munich.

How Long Is Juan Cabal Out For?

Igor Tudor has endured a difficult spell with injuries in recent weeks, as Khephren Thuram and Gleison Bremer both missed out on the trip to Spain.

The coming months will be a huge period for Juventus, as not only is a new club president set to be announced, but the Bianconeri face a difficult run of fixtures.

October is set to a busy month for Juve and Juan Cabal could miss some vital games, as Igor Tudor’s side face AC Milan (H), Como (A), Real Madrid (A), Lazio (A) and Udinese (H).

Although Cabal’s knock has not been specified as of yet, the Colombian’s reaction to the injury suggests that is a serious issue and will almost certainly rule him out of the upcoming clash against AC Milan.

The Rossoneri have enjoyed a strong start to the season under Massimiliano Allegri, picking up 12 points from the opening five matches and sitting top of Serie A.

Juventus’ league form has also been noteworthy, avoiding defeat in each of their five matches so far, however, Tudor will be hoping to find an extra gear as his side have now draw ntheir last four matches across all competitions.
