Juventus are hopeful of wrapping up a deal for Bournemouth centre-back Marcos Senesi.

While the club are working on signings in the January transfer window, they are also keeping a keen eye on future market opportunities.

General manager Damien Comolli and sporting director Marco Ottolini are particularly focused on strengthening Luciano Spalletti’s defence.

Senesi is on Juventus’ radar, and an official enquiry is believed to have been made. However, they are among a number of elite clubs to have also made contact over the Argentine international in recent weeks.

The 28-year-old is out of contract at the Premier League side at the end of the season and wants to move on.

He arrived at Vitality Stadium from Feyenoord in 2019 in a bargain €15million deal and has impressed. Fittingly, Senesi could reunite with his former team-mate Lloyd Kelly, who departed for Turin in February 2025.

His ball-playing ability and no-nonsense defending style make him a tempting opportunity for interested parties. Indeed, Barcelona have also placed Senesi on their shortlist as they eye up a new centre-back next summer.

Owing to the fierce competition, Juventus are hopeful of gaining a head start over their rivals.

According to Fabrizio Romano, new direct talks are expected in the next few days. The Old Lady hope to understand whether an agreement on financial terms would be possible.

With Senesi set to become a free agent, he will be tempted by two factors: the wages on offer and the sporting project. Juventus will also need to bear in mind the likely significant bonus owed to his representatives.

The centre-back, who holds an Italian passport, has made 20 appearances in the Premier League this season.

Senesi earned himself the nickname ‘El Gladiator’ from Feyenoord supporters after he was given the affectionate moniker by his father.

Juventus’ January Transfer Window Plans

As reported by FootItalia, Juventus are hopeful of securing a loan move for Liverpool winger Federico Chiesa.

Chiesa is open to returning to Turin this month, but a compromise has not been reached, with his club only open to letting him leave permanently. Mohamed Salah’s uncertain future could also affect the deal.

The Old Lady have also identified West Ham defensive midfielder Guido Rodriguez as a target.

However, Spalletti is not entirely convinced and, as such, wants to assess other potential options. Reports in Italy have claimed Juventus could take at least 10 days to decide on their next central midfielder.
