Kenan Yildiz’s ‘Triple Double’ Against Lecce Was Statistically One of the Best Individual Performances Ever

Kenan Yildiz joined elite company with his performance against Lecce at the beginning of January.

Juventus’ first game of 2026 was memorable in all sorts of ways after being held by Lecce, but Kenan Yildiz put on an attacking display for the ages that has left statisticians drooling.

Kenan Yildiz’s blossoming career has now entered a stage where he is no longer a budding young teenager.

The 20-year-old has cemented himself as Juventus’ most crucial asset, leading by example where others have stuttered this season and giving Luciano Spalletti’s side an attacking fulcrum to rally around.

The Bianconeri are keen to offer Yildiz an improved contract, extending his stay in Turin beyond his current deal, which is due to end in 2029.

Interest across Europe is growing, particularly from Premier League leaders Arsenal who are said to be long-time admirers. So too Real Madrid, although their interest hinges on offloading one their stacked core of attacking midfielders.

Whether cash-strapped Juve have the capital to keep Yildiz remains to be seen, but tying him down will likely come at a huge expense, particularly given players of his quality in that role are in such short supply.

As Yildiz continues to put in world-beating performances on a weekly basis, his stock will only continue to rise.

That was perhaps best evidenced by his display against Lecce on matchday 18, where his record-breaking performance still wasn’t enough for Juventus to collect all three points.

The prevailing narrative after being held to a 1-1 draw at home to Lecce was, of course, frustration that Juventus failed to close the gap on the leading pack.

It was a no doubt night to forget, and in particular cast doubt over Jonathan David’s future after his failed Panenka penalty attempt ultimately cost his side two points.

There was, however, a tangible spark on an otherwise dismal night for Juventus.

Kenan Yildiz put on his most effective attacking display in a Juventus shirt, driving his team forward at every opportunity in search of a winner.

Using the Stathead database, Yildiz is the only player to ever to record 20+ progressive carries, 10+ shot-creating actions and 10+ successful take-ons in a single game.

For context, he is only one of four players ever to record 10+ in each of those metrics in a single European top five league match. The company that puts him in is startling; only Lionel Messi, Ousmane Dembele and Neymar (three times) have achieved this feat.

That doesn’t include 15 touches in Lecce’s box, eight passes and seven carries into the penalty area, as well as six shots and four key passes.

It is, statistically speaking, one the best all-round individual displays of all-time.
