Serie A Giants Monitor Chelsea Star’s Situation As Borussia Dortmund Fail To Meet Enzo Maresca’s Demands

Start

Multiple Serie A sides are reportedly monitoring the situation of Chelsea star, Carney Chukwuemeka, as Borussia Dortmund fail to meet Enzo Maresca’s demands.

Will Chelsea Sell Carney Chukwuemeka?

After a loan spell in Germany during the 2024/25 season with Borussia Dortmund, Carney Chukwuemeka has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer.

According to reports, the Blues are not looking to loan the midfielder out again for 2025/26 and will only consider permanent offers for around $30 million – something Dortmund are not willing to pursue.

One team that are looking to make a formal bid is RB Leipzig, as Xavi Simons could be heading the other way after discussing personal terms with the Premier League side.

Chukwuemeka signed for the Blues in August 2022 after coming through the ranks at Aston Villa and went on to make 32 appearances for the Blues across two-seasons.

Enzo Maresca did not utilize the 21-year-old on a regular basis during the opening stages of 2024/25, meaning Chukwuemeka pushed for a loan-spell away from Stamford Bridge and joined Dortmund in the January transfer window.

The youngster made 17 appearances for the Yellow and Blacks last season, but started just once in the Bundesliga and did not impress enough to force Dortmund into signing the Brit.

Chukwuemeka’s contract with the Blues does not expire until June 2028, meaning Chelsea will hold some leverage in negotiations as there is no chance of the 21-year-old leaving on a free.

It’s clear that Maresca does not see Chukwuemeka as a valuable member, especially after making a host of new additions already this season and winning the FIFA Club World Cup without the midfielder.

Chelsea’s performance in the FCWC showcased a new level of quality in the Blues’ squad, so much so that new betting sites have priced the Maresca’s men as one of the favorites to win the Premier League.

With Chelsea going into next season with huge momentum and a set squad, Chukwuemeka is all-but certain to leave, however, if a permanent move to the Bundesliga does not materialize then there is a growing interest from Italy.

Which Serie A Teams Want Carney Chukwuemeka?

Multiple teams across Italy are looking to bolster their midfield this summer, but according to reports it is Juventus and Roma that are monitoring Chukwuemeka’s situation.

Igor Tudor’s side have already added a host of star names to their roster this summer, signing Jonathan David as a free agent and edging closer to a deal involving Jadon Sancho.

The Old Lady are also looking to offload a list of players before the 2025/26 season, with Juventus agreeing a $15m fee with Werder Bremen over Samuel Mbangula’s departure.

Adding Chukwuemeka to their midfield could be a shrewd move for the Bianconeri, especially with the continuous links over Douglas Luiz’s exit this summer.

However, Igor Tudor could face competition from another Italian giant, as Gian Piero Gasperini looks to bolster his squad after becoming the head coach at Roma.

The Giallorossi have recently added a young Premier League star on loan, bringing in Evan Ferguson from Brighton for the 2025/26 season, while also signing Neil El Aynaoui from Lens.

Roma will not be able to tempt Chelsea with a loan deal for the 21-year-old and any interested party will need to submit an offer at around $30m.
