Serie A Giants Monitor Harvey Elliott Situation After Aston Villa Take First Step To Terminating 22-Year-Old’s Loan Deal

After a difficult start to the 2025/26 campaign, Harvey Elliott could be handed a fresh start in Italy.

Harvey Elliott could be heading to Serie A in January as the Englishman’s loan spell with Aston Villa is set to come to an abrupt end.

Aston Villa To Terminate Harvey Elliott Loan

After a difficult spell at Villa Park, Harvey Elliott’s time with the Villains could be coming to an end and the 22-year-old could be heading back to Liverpool this month.

Elliott joined Aston Villa on loan during the recent summer transfer window and was expected to become a regular member of Emery’s starting eleven.

However Elliott has made just five appearances for the Villains across all competitions and has not played a minute in the Premier League since Matchday Six on September 28th.

Elliott was among a list of players that were looking to leave Liverpool, with Federico Chiesa also pushing for a transfer and attracting interest from Juventus.

Unai Emery recently commented on Elliott’s situation at Villa Park and the Spaniard revealed that the Brit’s playing time has been cut short as the club would have to pay a hefty fee if he plays a certain amount of minutes.

Emery said: “I am respecting him all we can because he’s a very good professional, very respectful but the situation we have is something. I must make a decision but not damage the person. Because he’s a very good person and player and deserves the best.”

“The problem we have with Harvey is this year he is on loan and in case he is playing matches, we must buy him. We decided two months ago we are not convinced to sign him, spending the money we need.

“This is the issue. But he is training every day, very good with us to help us in training and of course it is not good for him or good for us, but it is football and sometimes we must make decisions that are not good for us.”

This means that Elliott is unlikely to feature for Villa on a consistent basis and the 22-year-old is looking for way out to find regular playing time.

Serie A Sides Consider Harvey Elliott Move

Liverpool did not include a recall clause in Elliot’s deal, meaning they are unable to terminate the agreement on their terms and ending the move would be a financial detriment to Villa.

However, the termination fee would be lower than a permanent fee and the two Premier League sides are now negotiating over an agreed plan to end Elliott’s time in the Midlands.

This has altered multiple sides around Europe, specifically two Serie A clubs – as Roma and Lazio are said to be huge admirers of the two-time Premier League winner.

The two Rome-based sides are currently in a different transfer saga, as Lazio monitor Giacomo Raspadori and Elliott could bring a similar situation.

Maurizio Sarri’s side are hoping to make multiple moves this January after missing out on any signings in the summer due to a transfer ban.

The Laziali’s need for reinforcements has increased in recent days after Taty Castellanos agreed to join West Ham and Sarri is desperate for a  suitable replacement.

As for Roma, there have been multiple rumors over a new striker this month and the Giallorossi are reportedly close to signing Joshua Zirkzee.

Any move for Elliott will depend on his current situation in Villa, but if the Brit can find a way out of the Midlands then Liverpool are open to another loan move away from Anfield.
