Lorenzo Insigne Is Joining Pescara, Confirms Serie B Club’s President
The Napoli and Italy legend will be plying his trade at one of his former loan clubs in Serie B.
Lorenzo Insigne is set to return to Pescara, with the Serie B club’s president confirming an agreement has been reached.
The former Napoli captain is preparing for an emotional homecoming, more than a decade after first breaking into senior football in Abruzzo.
Lazio were keen on Insigne, who has been a free agent since leaving MLS side Toronto FC in 2025.
However, Pescara president Daniele Sebastiani has now stated the Insigne deal is done, describing the move as historic for the club.
Lorenzo Insigne: when Pescara fans will get the chance to see Napoli and Italy great
Lorenzo Insigne will rejoin Pescara, according to president Daniele Sebastiani, who says all key details have been agreed.
Sebastiani told Italian media the club had been working quietly, but confidently, to bring Insigne back where his rise began.
Insigne previously played for Pescara in 2011-12, a famous season under Zdenek Zeman alongside Ciro Immobile and Marco Verratti.
“Insigne? About a month ago, we spoke about another matter,” Sebastiani told Radio Tuttonapoli.
“He told me that, if Serie A didn’t offer him anything, he might consider returning to Pescara.
“After that, we talked more about it. I came to Naples with the director and we had a meeting.
“He confirmed his intention. It’s a romantic return.”

Pescara believe Insigne’s experience can lift both performances and expectations amid their Serie B struggles.
Sebastiani then said Insigne would need a few weeks to get up to speed, suggesting his debut won’t be until mid-February.
However, fans would “definitely” see Insigne in the stands against Mantova on Saturday, January 31.
“Physically, he’s doing well,” he said. “Obviously, he’ll need a few weeks to get back into shape, but we can afford to wait for him.
“It’s too early to see him on the pitch against Mantua, also due to bureaucratic issues, but he’ll definitely be at the stadium.”
Lorenzo Insigne to Pescara: how Marco Verratti played a part in sensational swoop
Lorenzo Insigne and Marco Verratti are two of Pescara’s greatest alumni.
And Daniele Sebastiani confirmed that Verratti also played a key role in the negotiations.
“We were both crucial,” confirmed Sebastiani. “I’ve always had a wonderful relationship with Lorenzo.
The negotiations went on for about a month. “We met in Naples and decided to maintain the utmost confidentiality. Insigne was honest, telling us what he thought right away.”
After a few days of deliberation, Insigne made his final decision.
“He explained to us that if a certain situation hadn’t been resolved by Monday, he would sign with Pescara,” concluded Sebastiani. “And that’s exactly what happened.”
Insigne hasn’t ruled Italy out either, Footitalia previously reporting that he is still pushing for a return to the Azzurri national side.
