Lazio winger Loum Tchaouna is on the verge of completing a loan switch to newly-promoted Premier League side Burnley.
Sky Sport Italia reporter Gianluca Di Marzio confirmed that the France Under 21 international has signed all the necessary paperwork ahead of his move to England.
Tchaouna will spend the entire 2025-26 campaign at Turf Moor. Upon the completion of his temporary move, the Clarets have the obligation to purchase the 21-year-old for approximately €15million.
A 10% sell-on clause has also been inserted into the deal. It’s expected that Scott Parker’s side will officially announce the deal in the next 24-48 hours.
What Positions Does Loum Tchaouna Play?
Loum Tchaouna plays predominantly as an attacking right-winger but can also operate as a centre-forward or as a standard right midfielder.
Last season, Tchaouna made 24 appearances for Lazio in Serie A. From those outings, 15 of them came as an attacking right-winger. Three came as a centre-forward and he also operated as a left-winger, right midfielder and attacking midfielder when called upon.
His versatility will prove vital as Burnley embark on their Premier League return. Manager Scott Parker is tasked with keeping the Clarets up in 2025-26.
Tchaouna is renowned for his explosive pace and offers an exciting dimension to the Lancashire side’s style of play. Although the best betting apps suggest Burnley will get relegated, Tchaouna’s arrival will give Parker renewed hope of survival.
What Clubs Has Loum Tchaouna Played For?
Once the move to Burnley is made official, it will be the sixth club that Loum Tchaouna has represented in his pro soccer career. He started out with Rennes II and featured 14 times and scored nine times between 2020-2023.
After scoring nine goals across the Championnat National 2 and 3, the 21-year-old was promoted to the Rennes senior squad. However, he only made 10 appearances and failed to score.
Tchaouna was farmed out to Ligue 2 outfit Dijon for the 2022-23 campaign whereby he scored twice across 29 appearances in all competitions.
In August 2023, Tchaouna made the move to Italy to join Salernitana in Serie A. The France U21 international chipped in with six goals in 35 appearances but was unable to help the Maroons preserve their top-flight status.
Last summer, Lazio signed Tchaouna for a reported fee of €8.4m. The 21-year-old fell down the pecking order under former coach Marco Baroni and only featured once in the last seven Serie A games of 2024-25.
Lazio Transfer Ban
On Monday, newly appointed head coach Maurizio Sarri’s future at Lazio was up in the air following the Biancocelesti’s transfer ban.
The Rome-based side are not able to sign any players until September 1. Therefore, meaning a number of stars could leave the Stadio Olimpico in the coming weeks.
It appears that the embargo wouldn’t have impacted Loum Tchaouna’s exit. He didn’t feature in Sarri’s plans but the Italian boss may be regretting the decision if an influx of players do depart.
It was rumored that Sarri himself may quit. However, that potential outcome was quickly quashed by sporting director Angelo Maria Fabiani.
“Then Sarri was informed about the block, but Lotito himself became aware of it afterwards, as did I. This made us retrace our steps, re-discussing some issues with the coach,” explained Fabiani.
“I heard talk of resignations, we never received anything also because the contracts start from July 1st. So what resignations are we talking about? They are invented things.”
