Cesc Fabregas Targeted By Manchester United As Red Devils Prepare Huge Contract Offer
Cesc Fabregas has caught the eye of Manchester United after the Spaniard's strong spell in Italy.
Manchester United are considering Cesc Fabregas for the vacant managerial role at Old Trafford as the Spaniard continues to perform in Serie A.
Manchester United To Approach Cesc Fabregas
The Como boss has been added to the list of managers in contention to take the reins at Manchester United, after the Red Devils parted ways with Ruben Amorim.
Fabregas has enjoyed a strong run in his second season as Como manager, as the Spaniard’s men sit sixth in Serie A and have won three consecutive league matches.
Como secured a 3-0 away victory over Pisa in their latest clash, which not only made it three wins from three but also three consecutive clean sheets.
Anastasios Douvikas bagged a brace in Como’s latest outing and is now being targeted by Roma, joining Nico Paz on the list of possible exits in the summer.
Losing two of their star attackers would be a huge blow to Como and things could be made worse if Fabregas considers the reported interest from Manchester United.
Darren Fletcher is controlling things at Old Trafford on an interim basis and there have been strong rumors over a return for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for the rest of this season.
The Red Devils will not appoint a full-time manager until the end of the 2025/26 campaign and Fabregas could be contacted if Como’s strong form continues.
Como are hoping to keep a hold of their head coach and this could see the Serie A side offer Fabregas an improved deal before the end of this season.
Como Prepare New Deal For Fabregas
Fabregas’ contract with Como does not expire until June 2028 and is reportedly earning €1 million per year, which could be a huge factor in the Spaniard’s decision.
This salary would make Fabregas the lowest paid manager in the Premier League, meaning Manchester United would likely offer Fabregas a significantly larger income.
Como will not be able to match United’s offer, as the Red Devils were reportedly paying Ruben Amorim €7.3m annually – but the Italian side can offer Fabregas other important factors.
The Spaniard has far more control with Como than he would in Manchester and the history with managers at Old Trafford since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure may deter Fabregas.
There could also be alternative options in Serie A for Fabregas, as Maurizio Sarri’s future with Lazio is uncertain and Antonio Conte is still under pressure at Napoli.
Any decision over Fabregas’ future will not occur until the summer, but United are reportedly ready to swoop in ahead of the 2026/27 pre-season.
