Soccer Fans React As Como 1907 Confirms The Signing Of Croatian Wonderkid

Soccer fans have shared their reactions after Como 1907 announced the signing of Croatian wonderkid Martin Baturina on June 16.

The 22-year-old will officially become a Lariani player on July 1, 2025. Baturina has penned a five-year deal which will keep him at the Sinigaglia until 2030.

The attacking midfielder arrives at the club with a glowing reputation. He is regarded as one of the brightest young prospects in European soccer.

Who Is Martin Baturina?

With the Milan vs Como Serie A fixture set to take place Down Under in February, Martin Baturina could already be a huge fans favorite by the time the Lariani travel to Perth.

Born in Zurich, Baturina is a fully fledged Croatian international soccer player. Predominantly an attacking midfielder, Baturina can play as an out-and-out central midfielder.

The 22-year-old made his senior debut for Dinamo Zagreb in 2021. His slick and stylish skills have seen Baturina labelled as one of the finest talents on the continent.

According to TransferMarkt, English Premier League trio Crystal Palace, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest were all monitoring Baturina’s progress. So to were Benfica and Frankfurt.

The Martin Baturina stats already highlight why he is being likened to Croatia legend Luka Modric. In 165 appearances for Dinamo Zagreb, Baturina has chipped in with 22 goals and provided an impressive 39 assists.

The highly talented playmaker has already won a plethora of trophies. They include two Croatian league titles as well as two Croatian Super Cups.

Known for his excellent range of passing, vision, dribbling ability, flair and creative edge, Baturina will certainly play a big part in the Como project over the next few years.

With Lariani pushing for a European spot this season, Baturina already has pedigree in the continent’s top soccer competitions. He has 13 UCL appearances to his name and has scored twice and provided one assist. He has also represented Dinamo Zagreb in the UEL and UECL.

According to the best offshore sportsbooks, Como are likely to keep on splashing the cash in the 2025 summer transfer window.

The capture of Martin Baturina is a new club-record at €17m. Interestingly, Cesc Fabregas’ side broke their transfer record on six occasions alone last season.

Baturina clinched the top spot from Maxence Caqueret who joined from Lyon for €15m in 2024-25. Anastasios Douvikas completes the podium spots at €13m.

Assane Diao, Alberto Dossena, Yannik Engelhardt and Nico Paz are the other players in question.

Naturally, Como fans were delighted to secure the signing of highly-rated Croatian wonderkid Martin Baturina. Lariani and other soccer fans turned to X, formerly Twitter, to share their thoughts.

One user posted: “Big purchase considering that Lazio followed him since he was in his father’s b***s and as expected others bought him.”

Another added: “Pupil has arrived…we’ll cheer for you too.”

As a fan of Hajduk Split (Baturina is Dynamo Zagreb ) I can tell you this player is for Inter or Arsenal,” said another. 

How did you pull him ? He is outstanding,” said one keen soccer fan.

Another post simply stated: “what a shot, congratulations to you, you have a pretty good project.”
