Milan Vs Como Serie A Fixture Set To Take Place Down Under Next Season

Start

The Milan vs Como Serie A match is set to take place in Australia next season in a world-first fixture.

It will be the first time in European soccer history that a domestic league game will be played outside of the continent. As per reports from Channel 9’s Wide World of Sports, Perth will be the destination host city.

The potential fixture change comes after a newly amended FIFA policy was implemented in May 2024. This allowed for games to be played abroad when it was previously forbidden.

Why Is The Milan Vs Como Fixture Being Played In Perth?

The reason for the Milan vs Como fixture being played in Perth is owing to the 2026 Winter Olympics. The Rossoneri’s San Siro Stadium will host both the opening Olympic and Paralympic ceremonies.

During pre-season, it’s common practice to see some of Europe’s biggest teams play in the likes of Asia and America. Including Max Allegri’s side as well as the likes of Inter, Juventus and Napoli.

History will be made in Perth when Allegri’s men take on Cesc Fabregas’ Como troops in February with vital points up for grabs. Last season, the Biancoblu finished just two places below the Diavolo in the Serie A rankings.

What Stadium Will Host The Milan Vs Como Match?

The location of the Milan vs Como Serie A fixture is set to be Perth’s Optus Stadium. It’s not the current home of A-League side Perth Glory. That is HBK Park.

Someone of which who could be playing on February 8, 2026 is the current Milan goalkeeper. Mike Maignan’s move to Chelsea is off after the Blues failed to meet the Rossoneri’s asking price.

Much has been made of Maignan’s long-term future at the San Siro but he looks to be staying put for now. If he is still wearing Milan colors in February, the France international and club captain will be one of the star attractions.

Milan Will Face Perth Glory In Pre-Season

Interestingly, Milan will take on Perth Glory in a pre-season fixture this summer. The game is pencilled in for July 31 and will take place at HBK Park.

Last summer, the Rossoneri faced league rivals Roma at the Optus Stadium and have developed a strong relationship with Glory and the state government.

The success of that friendly has certainly acted as a springboard for the Diavolo to meet Como in the Serie A fixture next February.

Milan also have games against Arsenal and Liverpool scheduled. Como will announce their games in the coming days.
