Moise Kean is experiencing a remarkable resurgence in his career, particularly during his time at Fiorentina, where he has quickly established himself as a key player. Following a hat-trick in a recent match against Hellas Verona, which contributed to Fiorentina’s rise to the top of Serie A, Kean expressed his aspirations and reflections on his journey in an interview with The Athletic

“Why not?” Kean said when asked about the possibility of finishing as the league’s top scorer this season. “It’s something I draw motivation from. It’s among my objectives.” He is relishing the competition with Mateo Retegui for the role of Italy’s No. 9, stating, “I like challenges… If you don’t have anyone pushing you, it’s not as motivating.”

Kean’s connection to Florence has been pivotal in his development. “So many things have changed since I got here,” he shared. “The prospects I have. Florence, as a city, believes in me and this has given me that little bit extra to improve and do well.” He noted the importance of the fans, saying, “They care about the jersey. They give you calore assoluto,” which translates to “absolute warmth.”

Reflecting on his past struggles, Kean acknowledged the difficulties he faced during his second spell at Juventus. “This year it matters a lot to me that I prove myself,” he remarked. “I was coming off a year non facile.” He elaborated on his experiences at Everton, stating, “Out of all the experiences I’ve had, you won’t ever hear me say I had a bad one… If I hadn’t spent that year at Everton, I wouldn’t have learned the things I did there.”

Kean also reminisced about his childhood inspirations: “I always liked Ronaldo O Fenomeno… particularly the fun he used to put into his game.” He expressed excitement about seeing Obafemi Martins’ son making waves in football today: “It seems like only yesterday I was watching videos of his dad.”

As he continues to thrive at Fiorentina, Kean is focused on making an impact both at the club and internationally. “I care a lot about the national team,” he stated. “Every time you play for Italy you have to sweat and show how important it is to wear that shirt.”

Looking ahead, Kean remains determined and optimistic about his future: “I just want to go out on the pitch, score goals and whatever comes of it will come. I don’t set myself limits.” With this mindset and his recent performances, it seems that Moise Kean is indeed poised for a standout season.
