The current Serie A title holders have made a flawless start to their 2025/26 Serie A campaign, picking up six-points from the opening two matches and sitting top of the table.

Conte’s kick off their title-defense with a 2-0 victory away from home against Sassuolo, as Scott McTominay and Kevin De Bruyne put their Manchester-based rivalry to one side by scoring the decisive goals.

Napoli then returned to their home ground for MD2 and secured all three-points against Cagliari thanks to a 95th minute winner from Frank Anguissa.

Kicking the 2025/26 campaign off in the same way they end the 2024/25 season is exactly what Antonio Conte would have been looking for, but his team now face their biggest test.

The Scudetto winners will travel to Florence on September 13th, as Napoli take on Fiorentina in Serie A’s evening kick-off and La Viola are still searching for their first league win of the season.

However, one of the more interesting aspects to this match-up is the possible debut from Rasmus Hojlund, with the Danish international looking to cement his place in the side after his loan move from Manchester United.

After an underwhelming spell in England, Hojlund was pushed out of Ruben Amorim’s squad and made his way to Naples following Romelu Lukau’s injury.

Hojlund will be hoping to cement his place as the leading striker for Antonio Conte’s side as the Belgian is not expected to return until December.

His chances of earning a start against Fiorentina took a huge boost during the international break, as the 22-year-old was on target in Denmark’s 3-0 victory over Greece.

Hojlund also decided to decline the offer for a day-off after coming back from international duty and has reportedly impressed his teammates and manager in training.

The Dane scored nine league goals in 32 appearances for Atalanta during his only Serie A campaign and could be in line to start as Lorenzo Luccas has struggled to make an impact up-front so far.

Antonio Conte is unlikely to make many changes to his side for their upcoming clash against Fiorentina, with Napoli keeping two clean sheets in both victories so far.

However, the champions were hit with a blow during the international break, as Amir Rrahmani was forced to leave the Kosovo camp early through injury.

The 31-year-old has played every minute in the league so far and is unlikely to feature against Fiorentina, meaning Conte may hand a first league start to Sam Beukema.

Napoli were one of the biggest spenders during the Serie A transfer window and Beukema was the clubs’ biggest expenditure, costing the Scudetto winners €31 million.

In midfield, Conte will likely call-up on the reliable quartet of Stanislav Lobotka, Frank Anguissa, Kevin De Bruyne and Scott McTominay, with the latter trio all finding the target so far.

Lorenzo Lucca is yet to fill the void made by Lukaku’s absence after signing from Udinese and Conte could drop the Italian down to the bench, which would see Rasmus Hojlund make his debut for Napoli.
