The next Fiorentina manager odds have seen Thiago Motta installed as the favorite to replace Stefano Pioli in Florence.

Pioli was only re-appointed in the summer but has endured a miserable second stint in the dugout. La Viola is without a victory in their opening nine Serie A games this season. A new and unwanted club record.

Naturally, Pioli’s position is under serious threat and another bad result against Lecce on matchday 10 could spell the end for the 60-year-old.

Will Thiago Motta Be The Next Fiorentina Manager?

According to FootItalia traders, Thiago Motta is primed to replace Stefano Pioli as the next Fiorentina manager. The former was most recently at Juventus whereby he was relieved of his duties in March 2025.

Despite his struggles in Turin, Motta’s managerial career took off at Bologna between 2022 and 2024. The former Azzurri star led Rossoblu to a Champions League berth in his first full season in charge.

Furthermore, he achieved a record points total of 68 in the 2023-24 campaign. That didn’t secure a top four finish but saw Motta’s stock rise dramatically.

Ironically, Motta’s time at the Allianz Stadium came to an end earlier this year after a 3-0 loss to La Viola. He can be backed at +300 to fill the dugout if Pioli is sacked.

Would Paolo Vanoli Be A Good Fit At Fiorentina?

The new Fiorentina manager candidates also involve the likes of Erik ten Hag, Ange Postecoglu, Brendan Rodgers and the recently-sacked Igor Tudor.

Roberto Mancini – who is favorite to be the next Italy manager – is also in contention. However, former La Viola player Paolo Vanoli is also hotly tipped for the role.

Bettors can back Vanoli at +350 to take over the reins if Stefano Pioli does receive his marching orders. Soccer fans will recall the 53-year-old’s stints at Venezia and Spartak Moscow – whereby he achieved 50% win rates at both.

Last season, Vanoli won August’s Manger of the Month award at Torino before he was dismissed at the end of the campaign. He led Il Toro to 11th in Italy’s elite soccer division.

Alessandro Nesta In Contention For Fiorentina Job

2006 FIFA World Cup winner Alessandro Nesta is the third favorite for the Fiorentina role. He certainly has a lot to prove in club management and the La Viola job has the potential to allow him to succeed.

In his playing career, Nesta was a serial winner but so far that hasn’t replicated during his stints in the dugout. The 49-year-old was most recently in charge of Monza who were relegated to Serie B at the end of 2024-25.

Nesta has also managed Miami FC, Perugia, Frosinone and Reggiana. Although he has no ties to Fiorentina, he is certainly in contention if Stefano Pioli does leave.

Commentary: FootItalia spokesman Shane Orton reacted to the ‘Next Fiorentina Manager Odds’ saying:

Thaigo Motta is the early market leader at +300 to replace Stefano Pioli should he lose his job in Florence. His moderate success at Bologna has not been forgotten but he did struggle at Juventus.

“Elsewhere, Paolo Vanoli is also in the running. He is currently unattached and offers bettors decent value at +350.

“Although there are plenty of big names behind Alessandro Nesta, he is considered a worthy contender to land the role at +500. He has plenty to prove and could do so at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
