According to the latest Neymar transfer news, a January switch to Serie A could be back on for the Brazil superstar.

The 33-year-old was previously offered to Inter Milan and Napoli. However, both club’s had doubts surrounding his fitness and injury struggles so turned their attention elsewhere.

Now, a potential move to Italy’s elite soccer division has re-emerged. But what club’s could realistically sign him and would he be a success?

Neymar Transfer News Reveals Serie A Interest

In August, Juventus were urged to sign Neymar for ‘one last dance‘ but a move never came to fruition. In fact, it was defender Gleison Bremer who tried to encourage the switch.

Fast-forward two months and it appears that the Brazil legend is trying to manufacture a move himself back to Europe. And Serie A has certainly appealed to the 33-year-old.

Naturally, a number of clubs would love to have someone of Neymar’s status on board. However, his vast salary and lack of game time raise concerns.

With that said, the financial rewards from shirt sales and other merchandise is also a huge draw for Italy’s elite. There’s certainly pros and cons to weigh up but a move to Italy in Neymar’s twilight years would re-affirm Serie A’s position as one of the world’s best leagues.

What Serie A Clubs Could Sign Neymar?

The Serie A transfers this summer surpassed the €1.1billion mark but the chance to sign Neymar for free in January will alert the majority of Italy’s elite clubs.

Napoli and Inter are two potential suitors who may be tempted. Although they reportedly turned him down at the back end of last season – with both sides going H2H for the Scudetto – Antonio Conte and Cristian Chivu could throw their names into the mix.

So too could AC Milan and Juventus. Neymar would represent a marquee signing for either team and the aforementioned clubs are the most likely to afford his salary.

The 33-year-old looks nailed on to quit Santos and a move to either Serie A giant is tempting. But reservations will be made owing to his injury struggles so seeing Neymar as a success in Italy is hard to envisage currently.

Will Neymar Play At The 2026 World Cup?

The main reason Neymar wants to quit Santos to return to Europe is to boost his 2026 World Cup chances. His agent Pini Zahavi has a strong relationship with a number of the continents heavyweights.

Therefore, he is expected to offer his client to potential suitors. Especially those who are seeking a short-term forward to add more experience in attack.

However, a lot will hinge on finding the right employer for the veteran in order to reignite his chances of playing in the expanded tournament next summer.

Naturally, US-based supporters would love to see him in the land of opportunity and if an Italian club can provide the platform for Neymar to thrive, there’s no reason why he can’t make the Selecao squad.
