Roma Target Fenerbahce’s Oosterwolde After Raspadori Pause As January Plans Shift
Roma are taking advantage of Fenerbahce's Guendouzi negotiations with arch-rivals Lazio.

Roma have opened talks with Fenerbahce over a move for Dutch defender Jayden Oosterwolde, according to reports in Italy.
Although Roma are prioritising a new forward in the January transfer window, they are open to reinforcing other areas of their squad.
Roma’s Giacomo Raspadori pursuit is currently on ice, with the Atletico Madrid forward set to compete in the Spanish Super Cup over the coming days.
Meanwhile, Joshua Zirkzee’s future is uncertain after Manchester United sacked Ruben Amorim.
With that in mind, the Giallorossi are now focusing on other targets as they look to strengthen their squad for a European push.
Roma in contact with Fenerbahce over Jayden Oosterwolde
According to Matteo Moretto, Lazio are now in talks with Fenerbahce to bring Oosterwolde back to Serie A.
Contacts have already taken place between the two parties, and the player is reportedly open to returning to Italy.
Oosterwolde played for Parma in the 2022/23 season, making 24 appearances in all competitions and scoring once.
A number of Fenerbahce officials are currently in Italy for talks over Lazio midfielder Matteo Guendouzi.
Roma have therefore taken advantage of the situation to see if they can strengthen their ranks while Lazio potentially lose a key player.

Why Oosterwolde appeals to Roma
Oosterwolde is a player whose profile would certainly appeal to Gian Piero Gasperini.
He is a left-footed, athletic player whop is able to cover more than one role within a flexible back line.
He can operate as a left-back in a back four or as the left-sided centre-back in a back three, offering Roma considerable versatility.
At 24 years of age, Oosterwolde is yet to reach his prime, and his Serie A experience means he should not need too long to acclimatise to the league.
Price tag the big issue for Roma
A December report from Tuttomercatoweb claimed Fenerbahce do not intend to sell Oosterwolde in January for less than €25m.
He is an important part of their system, having made 25 appearances in all competitions in the first half of the season.
With Fenerbahce sitting second in the Turkish Super Lig table, it’s understandable for them to be reluctant to sell mid-campaign.
In addition, Parma would pick up 20 per cent of the transfer fee due to a sell-on clause they inserted in the Fenerbahce deal.
Therefore, the Turkish giants could well increase their valuation so they can pocket more money from their own sale of the player.
If Fenerbahce hold firm, Roma may need to explore creative structures, or grudgingly accept that they can’t afford him this month.
However, the interest is certainly there, and Oosterwolde’s willingness to return to Italy could keep talks alive as the window gathers pace.
