Gian Piero Gasperini is growing increasingly concerned as Paulo Dybala continues to stall over a new contract with Roma.

The Argentinian international has entered the final six-months of his current deal in Roma and negotiations over an extension have failed to progress.

Dybala has made 19 appearances for Roma this season (all competitions) and has struggled to build any momentum after missing seven matches through injury.

Dealing with a repeated set of issues has played a key role in Dybala’s current contract situation, as Roma are reportedly concerned about the Argentine’s consistency.

Gian Piero Gasperini is a huge admirer of the 31-year-old and is hoping to find a resolution between Dybala and the Roma board before June.

Dybala was rumored with a move away from the Italian capital this month after a reported interest from Fenerbahce, however this deal appears to have fallen through.

Now, the Roma star could be making a return to his home nation of Argentina during the 2026 summer transfer window, as Dybala will be available as a free agent.

This move would likely come after the World Cup in the United States and Dybala’s involvement in the competition could be a key factor in his decision for the 2026/27 campaign.

Boca Juniors are the current front-runners to land Dybala’s signature this summer and will see their chances boosted if the 31-year-old refuses a new deal in Italy.

Gasperini’s side have made a strong start to the season, sitting fifth in the table despite being described as one of the biggest overperformers in Serie A.
