AC Milan are reportedly interested in Real Salt Lake star, Diego Luna, as the 22-year-old’s deal in the MLS is set to expire in June 2026.

Will Diego Luna Stay In MLS?

The young MLS star could be heading out of the United States in 2026, as Luna’s contract with Real Salt Lake expires in June of next year and has caught the attention of multiple sides across the globe.

Since making his Major League Soccer debut in June 2022 at just 18-years-old, Luna has gone to become one of the brightest prospects in America and is now a regular in Salt Lake City.

During his 111 appearances for Real Salt Lake so far, the youngster has contributed to 38 goals (26G + 12A), while also earning 15 caps for the USMNT.

Luna was part of the squad that reached the Gold Cup final, a tournament that brought a host of controversy as the likes of Christian Pulisic and Tyler Adams withdrew from selection.

Pulisic is someone that has been used heavily when speaking about Diego Luna, as the RSL star has been compared to the AC Milan player on multiple occasions.

The Rossoneri are currently negotiating a new deal with Pulisic, as the former Borussia Dortmund star is enjoying his best spell in Europe – contributing to six goals in as many games in Serie A so far (4G + 2A).

Obviously, Luna has a long way to go before he can claim to be at the level of Christian Pulisic, however, the Real Salt Lake star is keen on emulating ‘Captain America’ by moving over to Europe.

It is clear to see why the two would be compared, as Luna has become renowned for his allusiveness with a small, nimble frame and is a constant threat.

Luna is reportedly earning around €7,000 per week in the United States, meaning a move to Europe would not only be a soccer-based decision, but also bring huge financial improvements.

Real Salt Lake have not initiated any talks over a new deal for the 22-year-old and according to reports, AC Milan are conisdering a move for the American – meaning Luna would play alongside Pulisic.

Are AC Milan Interested In Diego Luna?

Massimiliano Allegri has hit the ground running during his second-spell with AC Milan, picking up 13 points from the opening six Serie A matches – with the only defeat coming in MD1 to Cremonese.

The Rossoneri have put their name in the hat for serious title contenders this season, as their two most recent league matches came against Napoli and Juventus.

Allegri’s side secured a 2-1 win over Napoli, before travelling to Turin and holding Juventus to a 0-0 stalemate, which saw Pulisic miss from the penalty spot.

Despite this decisive miss, Pulisic has been one of the Rossoneri’s star players this season and the USMNT could play a huge part in bringing Luna to Italy next summer.

Luna will be well aware that the 2026 World Cup could secure him a big move in the summer transfer window, as the whole world will have eyes on how the United States do as a host nation.

Finding success in Europe has been a difficult task for American players in recent years, however, Pulisic recently became the highest scoring USMNT player in European soccer history – providing a path to the likes of Luna.

As we have previously mentioned, the 22-year-old’s deal in Utah expires in June 2026, meaning he could be available as a free agent or for a fee of around €5m if Luna signs a new deal.
