Former Lazio star, Ciro Immobile, could be on his way back to the Serie A after attracting interest from Fiorentina and AC Milan.
Is Ciro Immobile Moving Back To Italy?
In July 2024, Ciro Immobile parted ways with Lazio to join Besiktas for around $3.5 million and left his home nation in search of a new challenge in Turkey.
After contributing to 23 goals in 41 appearances for Besiktas, reports are suggesting that the former Lazio star could be on his way back to the Serie A this summer.
Immobile began his career in Italy by coming through the ranks at Juventus, making just five appearances for The Old Lady and completing multiple loan spells to other Italian sides between 2010-12.
After failing to become a regular member of Juventus’ starting lineup, the Italian striker joined Genoa for around $5m and scored five goals in 34 appearances.
The Old Lady could do with a goalscorer of Immobile’s calibre, as the Italian side are huge outsiders to win the league title next season on Serie A betting sites.
Juventus and Genoa agreed a co-ownership for the striker and in July 2013, the Turin-based side bought Genoa’s half around $3m and agreed the same deal with local rivals, Torino.
This is where Immobile made his first real impact in Serie A, contributing to 25 goals in 33 league appearances and establishing himself as one of the hottest striker prospects in Europe.
In June 2014, the Italian earned a move to Borussia Dortmund which brought some controversy as Torino claimed Juventus had violated the co-ownership agreement by completing a deal outside of Torino’s consent.
Matters were resolved as Juventus sold their 50% ownership and Immobile’s move was revealed to be around $19m and the Italian went on to score 10 goals in 34 appearances for the German side.
Immobile then joined Sevilla on loan for the 2015/16 season and his obligatory buy-option was exercised in November 2015 after the Italian made five appearances for the club.
He only made 15 appearances for Sevilla before returning to Torino on loan in January 2016, where he contributed to nine goals in 14 Serie A appearances and began to regain form.
In July 2016, Immobile made his major move back to the Serie A, joining Lazio for around $10m and enjoyed his best spell at any club – contributing to 261 goals in 340 appearances (207G + 54A).
The 2019/20 season was his most successful, winning the Coppa Italia trophy and winning the Serie A golden boot with 36 goals which is still the joint-record for the most goals in a Serie A campaign.
At 35-years-old, Immobile is coming close to retirement and recent reports have suggested he could play out his final days in Italy after attracting interest from two Serie A sides.
Which Serie A Sides Are Interested In Ciro Immobile?
As previously mentioned, Ciro Immobile has caught the attention of two sides in Italy, as AC Milan and Fiorentina are said to be interested in signing the Italian goalscorer.
AC Milan recently appointed Massimiliano Allegri and the veteran manager has already been linked with a plethora of players, with the club preparing a move for Granit Xhaka this summer.
The seven-time Champions League winners do boast a list of strikers, with the likes of Santiago Jimenez and Luka Jovic currently taking up the striker slots.
English international, Tammy Abraham, was also on Milan’s books last season after signing from Roma on lona but the Italian side are reportedly uninterested in making his move permanent.
Fiorentina are also interested in signing Immobile this summer, as they look to add a back-up option for Moise Kean who scored 19 Serie A goals during the 2024/25 campaign.
Immobile’s deal in Turkey comes to an end in June 2026, meaning any interested party would need to submit a bid in the region of $3-$5 million.
