Como 1907 Prepare Surprise Move For Premier League Legend As Cesc Fabregas Looks To Continue Transfer Overhaul

Start

Como 1907 may be in the running to sign Premier League icon, Jamie Vardy, as the former Leicester City star is available as a free agent this summer.

Why Did Vardy Leave Leicester?

The veteran English striker decided to end his time in Leicester after the 2024/25 campaign, ending a relationship that has ran for the best part of 13-years.

Vardy joined the Foxes in the summer of 2012, going on to score 200 goals in 500 appearances, while contributing with another 71 assists and 145 of Vardy’s goals came in the Premier League.

Alongside a stellar career individually, which included a record-breaking scoring streak where the Brit found the back of the net in 11 consecutive matches, Vardy also won the Premier League in 2015/16 and FA Cup in 2020/21.

At 38-years-old, Vardy is coming to the end of his career and had clearly lost a yard of pace during the 2024/25 campaign, scoring just nine goals in the Premier League.

This drop off in performance made the final decision for Leicester, as the Foxes did not renew Vardy’s deal at the King Power and the striker departed following the expiration date.

Since Vardy announced that he would be leaving the Foxes, a host of potential suitors from across the globe have entered the conversation and Serie A appears to be a favored option on the best betting apps.

Are Como Interested In Jamie Vardy?

Although Serie A has been priced as one of the more favorable options, one team has received a more likely value and that price has fallen on the shoulders of Como.

Cesc Fabregas has been extremely active in this summer transfer window, signing Nicolas Kuhn, Jese Rodriguez, Martin Baturina, Alex Valle, Jayden Addai, Fellipe Jack, Ignace Van der Brempt and Luca Mazzitelli.

Such a huge overhaul to the squad comes after successful loan spells, with the likes of Valle, Jack, Mazzitelli and Van der Brempt, all competing for the Italian side last season.

In fact, Como’s transfer spending has already surpassed €100 million, making them the biggest spenders in the league this summer — and they’re still pushing for more.

However, Como did miss out on one of their main targets this summer, as Cristhian Mosquera rejected the Serie A side in favor of making a move to England and joining Fabregas’ former side, Arsenal.

Como finished 10th in Serie A last season, with the objective now switching from staying in Italy’s top division to qualifying for a European competition in 2025/26.

Adding Jamie Vardy to their roster may be a shrewd business move for Como, as the Italian side scored just 49 league goals last season, but did remain unbeaten in eight of their last nine league matches.

According to reports, there have been no direct talks between the Englishman and Como this summer, but due to Vardy’s free agent status a deal may be simple to complete.
