Parma Head Coach Targets Reunion With Arsenal Outcast

Start

The latest Serie A transfer news can reveal that Parma head coach Carlos Cuesta is planning a reunion with Arsenal outcast Fabio Vieira.

Insiders have told FootItalia that the Portuguese midfielder is high on Cuesta’s wishlist. The pair worked together whilst at the Gunners between 2022-2025 where Cuesta was the assistant to Mikel Arteta.

Vieira spent the entirety of last season on loan at former employers Porto. However, the Primeira Liga giants will not seek to re-sign the 25-year-old on a permanent deal.

Serie A Transfer News

Arsenal outcast Fabio Vieira is expected to leave the Gunners and a familiar face is keen to bring him to Italy. Parma’s new head coach Carlos Cuesta is a huge admirer of Vieira and wants him to transfer to Serie A.

Cuesta is yet to make any signings since he became I Crociati’s boss on June 19. The only acquisition the Italian side has made this window was Christian Ordonez who arrived before Cuesta.

The Spaniard – who is the second youngest Serie A manager in history – wants Vieira to revive his career at the Stadio Ennio Tardini next season.

Why Does Carlos Cuesta Want Fabio Vieira?

Carlos Cuesta is interested in bringing Fabio Vieira to Parma as he firmly believes he will add a much-needed attacking dimension to his roster.

Predominantly an attacking midfielder, Vieira would potentially be the only player who can naturally fill that role behind the frontline.

It’s unclear what tactics Cuesta will yet adopt at his new employers. However, it’s likely he’ll mirror what Mikel Arteta deploys at Arsenal (4-3-3).

If that is the case, Vieira could make the central midfield position of the three his own. He would also be given the license to roam forward and help the forwards and create chances.

How Much Would Fabio Vieira Cost?

According to TransferMarkt, Fabio Vieira is currently valued at €22million. The former Portugal Under 21 international currently has two years left on his current deal.

With the above in mind, it’s likely that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta would be happy to let Vieira join Parma for approximately €20m. Which is a reasonable fee for a player who has struggled at the Emirates.

Still aged 25, it’s likely that the Gunners would insert a sell-on fee if Vieira did directly transfer to the Stadio Ennio Tardini. A loan deal is also an option but the north Londoners would want to recoup some of the €35m outlay they paid Porto in 2022.

Even the best Bitcoin betting sites are favoring Vieira to move on this summer. A reunion with Cuesta is a likely outcome and the pair still remain friends from their time together in London.
