Juventus Reignite Interest In Barcelona Star Ronald Araujo As Spanish Champions Need To Make ‘Big Sale’ This Summer

Start

Juventus are reportedly reigniting their interest in Barcelona star, Ronald Araujo, as the Spanish side look to make a ‘big sale’ this summer.

Will Barcelona Sell Ronald Araujo?

The Uruguayan defender has been linked with a move away from the Nou Camp this summer, after failing to cement a place in Barcelona’s back-line under Hansi Flick.

During the 2024/25 season, Araujo made just 12 appearances in La Liga, missing 18 league matches through injury and sitting on the bench without getting on the pitch eight times.

Flick preferred the centre back partnership of Inigo Martinez and Pau Cubarsi, despite Araujo donning the captain’s armband during his 12 league appearances.

Araujo joined the Spanish giants in August 2018 from Boston River in a deal that cost Barcelona around $5 million and began his time in Spain with Barcelona B.

On October 6, 2019, the Uruguayan international made his debut for the first team and has gone on to make 175 appearances for Barcelona – winning two league titles and two Copa del Ray trophies.

His performances for Barca have played a huge part in his international career, becoming a regular member in the Uruguay defense and making 21 appearances since October 2020.

Araujo’s recent struggles with injury have made the 26-year-old a slight liability for Barcelona and the club are reportedly interested in the possibility of selling their star defender.

Manchester United have been linked with the centre back as Ruben Amorim looks to bolster his back-line and prove the best betting sites wrong next season – pricing the Red Devils as huge outsiders to win the Premier League.

A deal could prove difficult to complete as in January of this year Araujo signed a new deal until 2031, which includes a release clause of around $70m for the opening weeks of the transfer window.

Are Juventus Interested In Ronald Araujo?

The Serie A side have shown interest in the Barcelona defender during the last two transfer windows and are reportedly reigniting their pursuit this summer.

Igor Tudor recently agreed a permanent deal with the Turin-based side and is already looking to make some huge moves this summer – igniting talks with Victor Osimhen and Matues Fernandes.

Juve finished fourth in the league last season, as Tudor replaced Thiago Motta in March of this year and succeeded in his goal of qualifying for the Champions League.

The Croatian won his first game after renewing his deal with Juventus, as the Serie A side thrashed Al Ain 5-0 in their FIFA Club World Cup opener.

If Juventus are serious in their push for Araujo this summer then they will need to meet Barcelona’s asking price of around $70m and this could be funded by the possible sale of Dusan Vlahovic.
