Son Of Argentine Legend Closes In On Torino Transfer

Start

The latest Torino transfer news has revealed that the Granata are closing in on a deal for Napoli striker Gio Simeone.

Antonio Conte’s side is happy to let the 30-year-old leave after spending three years in Naples. Gio – who is the son of Argentina legend and current Atleti boss Diego – will be joining his sixth Serie A club.

He has previously represented Genoa, Fiorentina, Cagliari, Verona and the current champions. Simeone was part of the Azzurri roster who won the 2022-23 and 2024-25 Scudetto.

Torino Transfer News

Torino – who are +2000 with Serie A betting sites to finish in the top four this season – have already been very active in the summer transfer window.

However, Gio Simeone would be the first striker that head coach Marco Baroni signs. The Argentine has reportedly approved the deal with the Granata and agrees with the club’s sporting project.

All that remains is for the two parties to agree upon a suitable transfer fee. A figure in the region of €8million has been reported as Simeone still has a year on his contract to run. TransferMarkt values him at €5m.

Elsewhere, the Torino transfer news is really hotting up. The Bull are close to agreeing a deal for Aurele Amenda and Jeremy Jacquet, Lennon Miller and Jay Idzes are also on their radar.

How Many Serie A Goals Has Gio Simeone Scored?

Throughout his career, Gio Simeone has featured 298 times in Italy’s elite soccer division. Across those appearances, he has scored 73 times and provided 23 assists.

Simeone contributes a goal just over every three games in Serie A. His most successful season came in 2021-22 when he scored 17 times in 35 outings for Verona.

He scored 14 times in the 2017-18 season whilst representing Fiorentina and 12 times whilst on loan at Cagliari in the 2019-20 campaign.

However, his time at Napoli was largely unforgettable. In 83 appearances for the Azzurri, Simeone found the back of the net on just six occasions.

Gio Simeone Style Of Play

Torino fans will be curious about what Gio Simeone they’ll be signing. The Argentine striker certainly has goals in him but has struggled in his most recent seasons at Napoli.

Simeone is described as a tenacious and powerful player who is lethal in front of goal on his day. He can finish with both feet and is renowned for his work rate off the ball.

Blessed with pace, Simeone can cause many problems for defenders and links up well with his team-mates. The 30-year-old also has great technical skills.

If Simeone can bring his A-game to the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino, head coach Marco Baroni will have a formidable forward at his disposal.
