Juventus have received a boost in their pursuit of Federico Chiesa after the Liverpool forward reportedly ‘said yes’ to a return to Turin.

Speculation linking Juventus and Chiesa has been intensifying due to the Italy international struggling for game time at Anfield.

Juventus are weighing up a January approach as they look to strengthen in attack for the second half of the season.

Chiesa’s situation is also on the radar of Italy coach Luciano Spalletti, with regular minutes crucial in an international year.

Liverpool want €10m-plus along with deferred departure

According to Calciomercato, Chiesa is now up for returning to Juventus, considering how much has changed since his departure.

He has regained the trust of Luciano Spalletti, who first wanted him, and Giorgio Chiellini, with whom he shared Italy’s triumph at Euro 2020.

However, Chiesa’s agreement is only half the battle. Juve now need to come to an agreement with Liverpool.

The report claims the Reds want above €10m as part of either a permanent transfer or a loan with obligation to buy.

Liverpool have reportedly rejected a Juve approach consisting of a loan with option to buy.

And ‘above all’, they’re apparently asking for Chiesa to stick around for a few more weeks.

Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike are currently nursing injuries, while Mohamed Salah is at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Therefore, Arne Slot doesn’t want to lose another attacking player until Ekitike and Salah are back.

In addition, his current salary – around €7m per year – is outside Juve’s budget, but there’s room for negotiation, added the report.

Napoli are also eyeing Chiesa, but their interest is said to be exploratory for the time being.

Conflicting views between Arne Slot and Liverpool fans

The report claims Slot ‘certainly won’t oppose’ Chiesa’s departure. He didn’t mention the Italian during his press conference ahead of the Arsenal clash.

However, Liverpool fans are apparently ‘furious’ at the prospect of losing Chiesa, a player who they are starting to warm to.

Reds supporters view him as a player who never gives up, who puts heart and soul into his game, and who has the talent and ability to wear their prestigious jersey.

However, they’re not the ones who will have the final say on Chiesa’s future. The Liverpool fans’ loss could soon be the Juve faithful’s gain.
