Milan Given Coppa Italia Final Scare As France Star Forced Off Against Genoa

Start

Despite being forced off in the 2-1 win over Genoa on Monday, Youssouf Fofana’s injury update bodes well for Milan.

The midfield star left the field of play in the 28th minute after taking a heavy knock to the sole of his foot. However, the France international sat on the bench with his team-mates to watch the rest of the game.

Fofana was also seen applying ice to the injured area and was able to walk without too much discomfort. Naturally, the Rossoneri feared the worst with the Coppa Italia final just eight days away.

According to what is being reported by DAZN (via MilanNews), the Diavolo faithful should rest easy as Fofana’s participation against Bologna is extremely likely.

The incident itself occurred just after the 20 minute mark at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris. Although in pain, Fofana tried to carry on but struggled to do so.

Star forward Rafael Leao took his place. The Portuguese international was a surprise admission from the starting XI. He would go on to equalise for Sergio Conceicao’s charges before a Morten Frendrup own goal secured the points.

Youssouf Fofana’s Injury Update Bodes Well For Milan

Although Milan are yet to disclose the full details, Youssouf Fofana’s injury update is not as bad as first feared. The player himself didn’t look overly concerned. Even after he struggled to carry on playing.

The Rossoneri’s next match is actually against Bologna at the San Siro in Serie A on Friday. Fofana may be left out as a precaution just to make sure he is 100% fit for the final against the same opposition on May 14.

Since signing from French club Monaco in 2024, Fofana has become an integral part of Sergio Conceicao’s side. The 26-year-old has featured in 49 games and chipped in with nine assists and a single goal.

Elsewhere, USMNT star Christian Pulisic is set to sign a new Milan contract. ‘Captain America’ has scored 16 goals in 46 appearances in 2024-25.
