The agent of Aston Villa winger Nicolo Zaniolo insists his client never bet on football, only blackjack, and everything will be resolved soon. The former Roma and Inter youngster is at the centre of an investigation by the Turin Public Prosecutors office that is looking at a reported illegal betting group that includes Zaniolo, Nicolo Fagioli and Sandro Tonali.
Speaking with La Gazzetta dello Sport, agent Gianluca Tognozzi confirmed that Zaniolo was never involved in football betting, saying:
“Zaniolo has never bet, we will clarify everything. Nicolò has never gambled, he has also told me. It is possible that he played card games such as poker and blackjack on illegal online platforms without knowing they were illegal. We will clarify everything.”
“He risks a fine of a few hundred euros. All this unless there was a reiteration of the offence so great that it would be impossible to impose only a fine.”
