Palladino: ‘It’s probably the most exciting win in the league’

Start

Monza coach Raffaele Palladino believes his teams thrilling 3-2 comeback win over Fiorentina was probably the most exciting game in the league this weekend. I Biancorossi found themselves behind within 10 minutes after Christian Kouame put the visitors ahead, with Nikola Milenkovic adding a second just five minutes later. Cristiano Biraghi turned into his own net to make it 2-1 before Dany Mota equalised just before half-time. The hosts were awarded a penalty in the second half after Sofyan Ambrabat was judged to have fouled in the box, with Matteo Pessina converting from the spot to earn Monza a valuable three points that looks to have guaranteed their safety this season.

Speaking in his post-match press conference (as quoted by TuttoMonza), Palladino blamed himself for the early setback, but credited his players for a spirited comeback:

“It’s probably the most exciting win in this league! Congratulations to Fiorentina though, they are a really strong team. The first bad fifteen minutes of the game happened because of me, it will be something to improve but I already know where to intervene. The secret of success was going to the man-to-man approach, which rewarded our courage. We always stayed in the game, even at the worst time, as a really mature team does. There are seven games left and we don’t have to think about the future except for the match with Spezia.”
