Rocco Commisso: ‘Fiorentina won’t end up with Juve’s problems’

Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso was thrilled with his teams qualification to the Coppa Italia final, and warned they will never have the same problems as Juventus. La Viola will face Inter in the final of the competition on May 24 after completing a 2-0 victory over Cremonese in the semis. Speaking after the game (as quoted by Calciomercato), Commisso praised the team and their fans, but also took the opportunity to point out that Fiorentina would never encounter the kind of problems the Bianconeri have: ‘Their problems started when they signed Cristiano Ronaldo’:

“We are in the final, we go to Rome and hope for the best. We are very happy, tonight the boys played a great game and the fans made a spectacular choreography. I thank everyone: the coach who is great and I have always defended, the management and the players.”

“I don’t do anything, I just bring money from America to run the project. Joking aside, the revenue situation is a problem for us. We can’t go and get certain players and then end up like Juventus, who had €400 million in revenues anyway.

“If you look at the problems poor Juve has, they started when they got Cristiano Ronaldo and from there they got to where they are today. That will never happen to Fiorentina, who failed 20 years ago but will never fail again. I don’t know where we will arrive, each of us has his dreams and I have mine and then we will see where we arrive.”
