Walter Sabatini, the former sporting director of Roma, has taken a clear stance on the club’s decision to sack Daniele De Rossi. In a recent interview with TMW, he shared his thoughts on the situation and how the fans might react:
“It’s out of the question that they would turn against the ownership because they’ve put their own money into Roma. They’ve never been attacked, and I think that’s right. I don’t think the Friedkins make these messes, although they could avoid them. There’s a small caste that’s not up to par, but believes it is, and causes trouble everywhere.”
When asked about Ivan Juric’s suitability for Roma, Sabatini responded:
“I wonder if the coach is suitable for football, which has a universal language. I don’t have much to say. Juric is an excellent coach with personality. He was Gasperini’s first true pupil and has always worked well from a tactical and emotional perspective. It’s a choice I can understand and even agree with, although if it were up to me, De Rossi would have stayed for another 10 years.”
Sabatini also shared his opinion on Inter Milan’s performance against Manchester City:
“Of course I watched the match. What kind of questions are these? Do you think I don’t watch games?” he joked. “Inter seems to be superior to Manchester City. They already lost the final by a hair’s breadth, and the impression is that they were really ahead of City. The Nerazzurri are a great team, well-managed and with decisive champions who can win.”
