The Jhon Lucumi release clause has just 48 hours left to run with Premier League side Sunderland currently leading the way for his signature.
Lucumi has enjoyed a stellar campaign at the heart of the Bologna defence whereby he helped the Rossoblu to the Coppa Italia in May.
The 27-year-old centre-back was also named in The Athletic’s Serie A Team of the Season for 2024-25. His efforts on the pitch have seen a number of keen admirers all join the race for his signature.

In June, we reported that Inter were battling six Premier League clubs for in-demand Bologna star Jhon Lucumi. The Colombian’s relatively low release clause has made him an attractive suitor.
The Rossoblu has to accept offers of exactly €28million. However, there is a small catch that suits Vincenzo Italiano’s side. The clause has less than 48 hours to run before it expires.
Should no bids be received between now and July 17, the Coppa Italia winners can therefore reject all and every bid that they’ll receive for their star defender.
Although the player himself hasn’t declared he wants to quit the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara, a new challenge is a realistic outcome after spending the last three years at Bologna.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Sunderland are interested in Jhon Lucumi. The English Premier League side is keen to add some much needed experience to their backline.
It’s likely that Regis Le Bris will wait until after the expiry of Lucumi’s release clause before lodging a bid. The French head coach remains confident of being able to lure the Colombian international to Wearside.
