Fabio Capello Makes Bold Del Piero Comparison For Juventus Star After Impressive Start To 2025/26 Season

Former Juventus manager, Fabio Capello, has heaped huge praise on Kenan Yildiz, by comparing the Turkish international to Alessandro Del Piero.

What Did Fabio Capello Say About Kenan Yildiz?

The Juventus star has cemented himself in Igor Tudor’s side for the 2025/26 campaign, after making a strong start to the Serie A season – contributing to four goals in the opening three league matches (1G + 3A).

Yildiz also played a huge part in Juventus’ dramatic 4-4 stalemate with Borussia Dortmund in the Serie A sides’ first Champions League fixture, providing a goal and assist.

Igor Tudor praised his side for showing great heart against the Bundesliga giants and the Bianconeri will divert their focus back to Serie A as Juventus face Hellas Verona.

Yildiz is expected to start for Juve and has received huge praise from former Juventus manager and Serie A icon, Fabio Capello, who compared the Turkish international to Italian legend, Alessandro Del Piero.

Capello said: “For what he does when he plays, for the position he takes up and where he performs best. With the Turk, in some way, you can see Del Piero on the pitch again, even if, of course, we are talking about a different period and a different context.

“Alex had great qualities, including dribbling ability, but for example, he didn’t have the speed that Yildiz has, with and without the ball. They have the same shooting ability, even from outside the box.

“Charisma is a quality they have in common. Del Piero had so much of it, he always did. Yildiz is just starting out, but he’s already showing that he has plenty as well. That’s what allows him to stand out for both club and country.

“When it comes to creativity, they’re on par, but it must be said that creativity is essential, but not enough. It must be matched with quality as well. We all know what Del Piero achieved in his career. Yildiz has only just begun.

“These are different times and different teams, but the ‘Juventinity’ is another of those virtues they both embody. Today’s Juve have in Yildiz a symbolic player.”

Capello’s most successful spell in Italy came with AC Milan, winning five Serie A titles as Rossoneri boss, however, Capello managed Juventus between 2004-2005.

The Italian worked with Del Piero during his time in Turin and saw the Juventus legend first-hand, as Del Piero is widely considered one of the best players of all-time.

During his time with Juventus, Del Piero made 705 appearances, contributed to 463 goals (290G + 173A) and won six Serie A titles, Coppa Italian and the Champions League – meaning Yildiz has a lot to do to reach Del Piero’s status in Turin.

Will Kenan Yildiz Sign A New Contract With Juventus?

Due to his strong performances with Juventus so far, the Turkish international has been rumored with a new deal in Turin and is deemed an invaluable asset.

The 20-year-old joined Juventus’ youth setup in July 2022, signed a new deal in August 2024 and is valued at over $90 million by the Serie A side.

Yildiz is set to stay at Juventus despite interest from Chelsea, however, Capello beleives Juventus should enjoy the Turkish international while they can as he could make a huge move in the near future.

Capello said: “Juventus should enjoy Yildiz as long as he shines in Turin, just as we will as long as he remains in our league. When the economic pressure, inevitable of course, will begin to mount even more insistently from England and Spain, it will be difficult, if not impossible, to hold on to a talent born in 2006 like him.”
