Massimiliano Allegri At Risk Of Receiving Extended Ban After Lazio Dismissal

Massimiliano Allegri may receive an extended ban following the Italian’s dismissal during AC Milan’s narrow victory over Lazio.
Massimiliano Allegri To Miss Crucial AC Milan Matches
Allegri was handed his marching orders in the final stages of Milan’s 1-0 triumph over Lazio, which saw the Rossoneri move to the top of Serie A.
The Italian reacted furiously as Giuseppe Collu began an on-field review for a possible penalty to Lazio after Milan defender Strahinja Pavlovic appeared to have handled the ball.
Collu did not award the Laziali a spot-kick, but the AC Milan manager revealed that the Serie A official decided to dish-out a red card after Allegri’s comments in relation to the match against Cremonese on August 12th.
Allegri said: “It was the same referee as the opening game when we lost to Cremonese, so I just said how come every time with him there’s a problem? So he sent me off. In the chaos, it’s only natural he would make that decision, but I certainly didn’t mean to offend him.”
Milan managed to hold on to all-three points despite Allegri’s dismissal, as Rafael Leao’s 51st minute strike was enough to extend the Rossoneri’s undefeated streak to 12.
Maurizio Sarri’s side failed to make a real impact on the match amid rumors over a new Lazio stadium, but have a second chance as the Laziali welcome Milan to Rome in Coppa Italia on December 4th.
Allegri will be absent from the cup-tie and the AC Milan manager is also set to miss MD14 in Serie A, as the Rossoneri face an away clash against Torino.
However, this ban could be made more severe as this is Allegri’s second red card of the season after being dismissed against Bologna on September 14th.
An exact punishment is yet to be awarded, but Allegri may also miss MD15 in Serie A against Sassuolo and Marco Landucci will be handed the task of overseeing the Rossoneri side.
Marco Landucci To Step In During Allegri’s Absence
Max Allegri has already missed three matches due to suspension this season and Marco Landucci has put in some impressive performances during the Rossoneri boss’ absence.
The assistant manager at Milan has overseen both of the Rossoneri’s Coppa Italia ties this season, as Allegri served a two-game ban that came from his time with Juventus.
Milan picked up a 2-0 win over Bari, before defeating Lecce 3-0 and the cup tournament has acted as a place for rotation for the Rossoneri this season.
The upcoming Coppa Italia clash could hand minutes to the likes of Santiago Gimenez, despite the Mexican attracting Premier League interest.
Landucci has also been in charge of a Serie A clash this season, guiding Milan to another clean sheet victory with a comfortable 3-0 triumph over Udinese.
This strong record will put the minds of Milan supporters at ease, especially as the Rossoneri’s assistant manager may be called-upon on more occasions this season.
