MLS Champion Considers Serie A Switch As Inter Miami Star Looks To Escape Lionel Messi’s Shadow

Tadeo Allende is considering a move to Serie A during the January window after a record-breaking season with Inter Miami.

The Argentine was one of the star players in Major League Soccer during Inter Miami’s run to the title and has attracted interest from Europe’s elite.

Allende registered 29 goals contributions in 57 appearances (23G +6A) during his season-long loan with the MLS side, which include a record breaking nine-goals in the playoff stages.

The 26-year-old formed a formidable relationship with his fellow Argentine and soccer icon, Lionel Messi, as Inter Miami won the MLS Cup for the first time.

His deal with Miami officially comes to an end on New Year’s Eve 2025 and Allende is set to return to Celta Vigo, but the star striker is not planning on staying in Spain.

One side that are on the hunt for attacking reinforcements in January is Lazio, as Maurizio Sarri’s side prepare for a huge overhaul following their lengthy transfer ban.

The Laziali have been linked with multiple players ahead of the upcoming transfer window, targeting the likes of Wilfried Gnonto as the Italian seeks a move away from Leeds.

Allende would be a slight-risk for the Serie A side as the Argentine has only made 13 appearances in Europe, as the 26-year-old scored three goals for Celta Vigo.

The Spanish side signed Allende for €4.5million in January 2024 and are willing to let the Argentinian striker move on for a similar fee two-years on.

Lazio are happy to match Celta Vigo’s asking price, but will face competition from Inter Miami as the MLS side look to bring in their talisman on a permanent basis.

Lionel Messi To Play Huge Role In Tadeo Allende’s Future

One huge selling-point for Inter Miami’s approach is Lionel Messi’s involvement, as Allende has been very vocal about his admiration for the soccer superstar.

Messi provided the assist for Allende’s late strike against Vancouver Whitecaps in the MLS Cup playoff final and symbolized the duo’s relationship throughout the season.

However, Allende is also keen on becoming the star player and this goal will be unattainable while Messi is still playing for Inter Miami.

The MLS side have made their intentions clear in recent weeks, as Javier Mascherano is putting all of his efforts into signing Allende on a permanent basis.

Inter Miami were also considering a move for Jamie Vardy, but this deal seems unlikely after the Cremonese star won the Serie A POTM award.

Allende will make a decision on his future during the opening stages of 2026 and Lazio will need to initiate negotiations right away.
