Atalanta Offer Azzurri Star Lucrative Contract Extension As Ademola Lookman Future Remains Unclear

Atalanta are set to offer Gianluca Scamacca a lucrative new deal after the Italian’s recent run of form in Serie A.

The Atalanta star has been on fire since the start of 2026, contributing to three goals in his last four appearances across all competitions (2G + 1A).
Scamacca has reclaimed the center forward spot after missing the opening weeks of the season through injury, as the Azzurri international has risen above Ademola Lookman and Nikola Krstovic.
La Dea currently sit seventh in Serie A after picking up four wins from their last five league matches and are still hopeful of being of the Italian sides to finish in the Champions League top eight.
Scamacca has played a huge role in Atalanta’s performances in Europe, contributing to a goal in each of his last three appearances and the 27-year-old is set to be rewarded with a new deal.
The Italian striker moved to Bergamo in August 2023 and his deal with Atalanta is set to expire at the end of the 2026/27 season – meaning La Dea are looking to find a resolution ahead of time.
Prior to Giacomo Raspadori’s move to Atalanta, Scamacca was the Serie A side’s highest paid player with a reported base salary of €5.9million per year.
If Scamacca’s performances continue until the end of the season, then the Italian forward may look to reclaim his place above Raspadori by requesting €7m per year.
Keeping a hold of the 27-year-old could be pivotal for Atalanta, as Ademola Lookman’s future in Italy is still surrounded with doubt.
Ademola Lookman Future Remains Unclear
The Nigerian international has been linked with a move away from Bergamo for multiple transfer windows and looked set to leave during the summer.
Lookman handed in a transfer request at the end of the 2024/25 season, before refusing to take part in any pre-season training or friendlies in hopes of forcing a move elsewhere.
Atalanta rejected multiple bids from Inter Milan and did not entertain a loan offer from Bayern Munich, meaning Lookman was forced to pay a hefty fine and return to La Dea training.
Multiple players have seen their future in Bergamo questioned, as Yunus Musah considers a move to MLS and Lookman continues to attract interest from the Premier League.
Raffaele Palladino is hopeful about extending Lookman’s deal in Italy after the Nigerian returned from AFCON a day early, but his performances have not met expectations.
The former Premier League star has scored just three goals across all competitions, meaning Atalanta’s asking price could face a substantial decrease this summer.
