AC Milan have completed the signing of Diego Moreira from Strasbourg. The 22-year-old winger joins the Italian club on a contract running through 2031 after a transfer that represents a record sale for the French side.

Milan paid a fixed fee of €50m, according to The Athletic. Strasbourg sources briefed on the situation said add-ons and a sell-on clause inserted by Chelsea when Moreira joined Strasbourg could take the eventual package to €71m.

Moreira Joins Milan From Strasbourg

Moreira arrived at Milan after two seasons with Strasbourg, whom he joined from Chelsea in August 2024.

The Belgium international had made one first-team appearance for Chelsea before moving to the French club.

He recorded five goals and nine assists in 42 appearances for Strasbourg last season, including a goal and an assist in a 3-3 draw against Paris Saint-Germain in October.

Across his time at the club, he recorded seven goals and 16 assists in 76 appearances.

Moreira represented Portugal and Belgium at youth level before opting to represent Belgium at senior level in May 2025.

He made his senior debut in September last year and later made one appearance at this summer’s World Cup.

Different Reports on the Transfer Structure

While the fixed fee has been reported as €50m, accounts of the potential add-ons and overall structure differ.

Football Italia reported that Sky Sport Italia put the deal at €45m plus up to €20m in add-ons, while other reports cited a €50m fee with bonuses and a future-sale percentage.

Gianluca Di Marzio’s assessment, reported by Milan Reports, described a €45m fixed fee and bonuses that could reach €20m.

The range of reported figures reflects the differing accounts of the add-ons and sell-on provisions rather than any doubt over Moreira’s completed move to Milan.

A New Option for Milan

Moreira has signed through 2031 and will wear the number 22 shirt.

His arrival adds another winger to a Milan side preparing for Europa League football after dropping out of the Serie A top four on the final day of last season.

Former Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is leading Milan into the new campaign following the dismissal of Massimiliano Allegri.

Moreira’s transfer gives the club a 22-year-old international attacker whose most productive senior season came at Strasbourg.

Moreira’s Route to Milan

Before joining Strasbourg, Moreira spent time with Standard Liege, Benfica, Chelsea and Lyon.

He moved to Benfica’s academy from Standard Liege in 2020 and helped Benfica win the UEFA Youth League two years later, scoring four goals and providing five assists in 10 appearances during that campaign.

His completed transfer from Strasbourg now brings him to Milan on a long-term contract, with the final cost dependent on the add-ons and other provisions reported as part of the deal.
