Prominent football agent Tullio Tinti talked with Sky Sport Italia about some of the prominent market transfers of recent weeks and shared his thoughts on his own clients. The transfer window has seen Riccardo Calafiori on the verge of a move to Arsenal, while Andrea Colpani is set to make the switch to Fiorentina, a move that Tinti thinks is important for all parties:
“After an important season, Colpani’s move from Monza to Fiorentina is significant. He’s a natural talent who knows how to play football like few others. We should help the growth of players like him, of which there are many in Italy. Many get lost in the lower categories.”
Regarding the development of young talents:
“Unfortunately, we need to avoid the pressure that exists in Italy, where if a coach loses a match, he risks being fired. I’m in favor of young Italian players, and it doesn’t seem to me that we don’t go far in European and international competitions. Players from Portugal, for example, come out of youth teams and play in Serie A. Self-esteem is fundamental, and it only comes if you play at high levels. B teams help to stay in touch with the first teams.”
On the transfer market approach:
“Abroad, the mentality is to buy players under 26, while we take those over 28. From the club’s point of view, this doesn’t bring economic advantages.”
Regarding Giorgio Scalvini:
“How much is he worth? Unfortunately, he’s had this bad injury, but he’s recovering with a smile. He’s an exceptional player. I don’t think Atalanta will let go of such a player, but if they do in the future, I believe they’ll ask for at least 50-60 million euros.”
On Federico Chiesa’s situation:
“I don’t know if he’s no longer appreciated. If he were my client, I’d try to do the best for him, find the best solution. He remains an Italian national team player, but it’s understandable that the coach might look for someone with different characteristics.”
About Alessandro Bastoni:
“I’ve seen him grow, he’s formidable. He has quality, character, technique: he’s a top player. Many foreign clubs have knocked on the door, but Inter, who want to win, don’t get rid of champions. Manchester City sought him out often in recent years, and recently Real Madrid as well.”
