Bologna are ramping up their efforts to strengthen their back-line ahead of the upcoming Serie A season and Champions League campaign. After abandoning their pursuit of Mats Hummels, the club has turned its attention to two promising targets: Logan Costa of Toulouse and Jaka Bijol of Udinese.
According to Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the primary focus is on Logan Costa, a 23-year-old center-back from Toulouse. Bologna have made an initial offer of €13 million plus €2 million in bonuses for the defender. However, Toulouse are holding firm, demanding €18 million for their prized asset. This €5 million gap between the two clubs’ valuations is currently the main obstacle in negotiations.
Costa, born in 2001, has caught Bologna’s eye with his performances in Ligue 1. The club sees him as a valuable addition to bolster their backline for the challenges ahead in both domestic and potentially European competitions.
While Costa remains the priority, the Rossoblu are keeping its options open. The club continues to maintain interest in Jaka Bijol from Udinese, however, progress on this front has been hampered by Udinese’s high asking price, which Bologna currently find excessive.
As the transfer window progresses, Bologna’s management is working diligently to bridge the gap in negotiations for Costa while also exploring the possibility of bringing Bijol’s price down to a more acceptable level. The club’s determination to reinforce its defense is clear, as they aim to build a squad capable of competing on multiple fronts in the upcoming season.
